IHB: Redefine your DH Game!

By Drop Bear, in Dark Heresy

No seriously, just picked the Inquisitors Handbook (FF ed) up today for A$99.95 (Core Book costs 120 OZ bucks in the Shops) along with some BI ed books (PtU & GM's pack), and my pland session for tonight turned in to a Re-build of most of the characters(or at least their starting Kit), and Character Generation of my Sisters of Battle game.

All I can say is Wow! my current DH game has bean made like five times better

The IH is considered essential by most people around here, mostly for the wealth of character options you found inside. The vast array of guns help too, though I'd be cautious of letting your players grab whatever they please at character generation. Since availability is bypassed you can end up with rank 1 characters with weapons that'll make a mockery of what you were planning to throw at them.

The Inquisitors Handbook, though very prone to eratta, a very good addition to your campaign.

And about those blades and guns, well, some are better, more tastefull or darn out insane.

The Inquisitors Handbook is basically player porn. Its a must buy for every player that wants to min-max or otherwise improve their characters. And since Rank 1 characters start out like chumps, the temptation is there for every player to get the power boost they feel they need.

All the current characters in my campaign either already use, or are working towards the alternate careers in the IHB. In many cases because of the flavour and universe "grounding" that they have rather than for any "uber-powers".

I think it's an essential purchase and packed full of sector background gems for the GM. Oh and the section of the Imperial Faith isn't to be ignored.

Oho I know, But my Assassin fited the Noble Profile better (also freed up some XP for more skills) than the Imp Worlder and dicribed he Sword more like a Basted Sword than a Long Sword and her Dager as a Steleto, although Moritat sounded all Cool it wasn't realy her Character.

The Guardsman Hasn't picked up Big Guns, but has them picked out for pruchace doen the track, but has picked up some Basic Kit Items.

Others it's an Item hear & there but nothing trualy Major.

I expected the book to be Good from what I'd heared hear, but what I got just blew me away. in 1e D&D terms this is the UA and DSG & WSG as well as DLA or OA all in one book.

With all this one book brings to the game, for the most part it does it for the Calixis Sector alone. Another reason I like the line staying in one area.. Can you imagine the line trying to placate the gamers in every part of the galaxy like that?

As stated before if you can only buy two books this is the second after the core rules. And your group only needs one copy. I believe this is one of the best examples of why the line stays in the Calixis Sector. Sure you can rename all the material and spread it out to anywhere, but the work has been done already. And the fact that alot of options are for higher level (4+) characters means everyone isnt left out when it shows up in the campaign. If you are on the fence on this one- GET IT!
