Question for the group....

By Rob5750, in Dark Heresy

I have a dilemma and would like to hear the thoughts of some fellow gamers on the subject. When Dark Heresy first released under the Black Industries logo I was one of the lucky ones here in my hometown that got a copy of it. I’ve been very careful with it in the two games I run. It’s in very good condition.
Now here’s the dilemma …. One of my best friends bought me a copy of the reprint by Fantasy Flight. Should I put the old one up so that it doesn’t get any more “wear” or continue to use it and pass the new one around in my bigger group, that has a couple of players sharing books now?

Are you talking about the Limited edition, leather bound, Inquisitors personal copy, version of Dark Heresy?

If so, then yes, stop playing with it immediately and put in under glass so people can admire and be in awe of it for years to come.

Yeah...I wish I had that one. lol

I'm just talking about the regular first printing of the Core Rulebook by Black Industries.

That fateful day BI anounced they would no longer produce / sell DH books (actualy just one day after release) I immediately ordered a spare copy of the main rulebook. So, I got one in brand-new condition and one for the actual gaming now. Who would know FFG would pick up distribution back then .... ah wait, a month later we allready did know gran_risa.gif

I recently bought a copy of the FFG reprint. I use the nice shiny new copy as my GM copy and I let the players use the BI copy with a stapled together Errata 2.0 for things they want to look up.

I think that the black industries one should be treated with some respect. Ok sure they made a few mess ups but they did a pretty good job. Put it on the shelf maybe in a protective cover if needs be. But don't mistreat it. The book is still in good condition and who knows if in the future someone may come looking for it.

I would never mistreat it. I love the book and the fact that it is a first and only printing and has some mistakes in it is why I thought about putting it up. It may not be worth much but to me it's a cool collector’s piece. Shoot I still have D&D handbooks from over 30 years ago. Don't use them anymore but they are kind of cool to have.

Impressive. Very impresssive. First edition and everything I guess. As in first editon rules. That must be some collection

I think so.....but then I collect old games and RPG's like some guys collect comics. lol It's all well and good until I have to move my collection. A few months ago my best friend was helping me move into my new Apt. and after spending all day lugging those heavy boxes of game books in here he made the joke that if I ever get out of gaming I should start collecting stamps, cause at least thay would be easy to move! lol

if you really wanted to annoy him you could sart collecting rocks or some other very heavy items. Would love to see his face "So I'm moving again oh by the way don't worry about the books I sold them for a fortune... I collect rocks now"

That's great! I love to mess with him like that. He's a good guy though, you know, the one who will show up to help no matter how much heavy crap you've got.

Yeah this is more than a little off topiv really sorry moderator people but sometimes it can't be helped
