Help me win my last battle of the campaign.

By PS10, in X-Wing

As the title reads, HELP!

I did lost near all the different missions, barely but still a loss is a loss. I win quite a lot of standard battles, but the missions are some how not liking me. So i'm not in for it for the rankings just to win the last one.

Asteroids do not concern me!

Points:100 (each side)

List building restrictions: None

Board deployment: Double the amount of asteroids are deployed

Ship deployment: Standard

Special rules:

‘The odds are 3720 to 1’: All damage done by asteroids is done directly to the hull.

‘Bigone’: Both big asteroids will cause a critical hit instead of a regular hit.

Asteroid field: After all movement dials have been determined, roll a green die for every asteroid on the board. If an evade side is rolled, move the asteroid by one shot range distance in the direction indicated by the evade arrow. If this would move the asteroid off the board, move it in the opposite direction.

‘Evasive maneuvers’: After the asteroids have been moved you may adjust each of your movement dials by one click to the right or one click to the left.

Win conditions:

‘I want that ship’: You win when all the ships of your opponent are destroyed.

I do not want to proxy (advanced sensors would be the nuts!) and my current fleet consists of: 4 A's, 2 B's, 2 X's, 2 Y's and a YT

I was thinking using mobility to my advantage 4A's and a ORS or do a BlueBacca or a 3 ship hard strike combo.

Any input?

Seems like the winner will be the person that most effectively avoids asteroid damage. 4 As are going to only take two hits (max) in this regard and be dead.

I'd start the list using your Y's with Ions, as limiting/forcing your opponent's moves will be key and make it far more likely he ends up eating them. The YT is an interesting option for the same reason, but could get stripped very fast because of its size.

What happens if an asteroid rolls into a ship before it's moved?

Fun scenario, though.

It is ignored until the end of the movement, then you see if you hit anything. But if the asteroid happens to move a millimeter in front of your ship you are screwed.

How about:

blank.gif?v57Gold Squadron Pilot + R5-D8 + Ion Cannon Turret (26)
blank.gif?v57Chewbacca + Expert Handling + Luke Skywalker (51)

Edited improved (i think) version:

blank.gif?v57Gold Squadron Pilot + Ion Cannon Turret (23)
blank.gif?v57Chewbacca + Expert Handling + Luke Skywalker + Nien Nunb (52)
blank.gif?v57Blue Squadron Pilot + Ion Cannon (25)

I think that looks solid. Just three ships to worry about with all the asteroids flying around, even if the big base might be tough. The B-Wing roll will be nice, but its 3 hull *may* be a disadvantage here.

I'd suggest buying at least 1 shuttle before the next game: Advanced Sensors let you do whatever you want in an Asteroid field, even a shifty one.
This is a scenario designed for Hypermobility, and that means either Advanced Sensor B-Wings or Empire.

Failing that, get a Navigator on your YT-1300....which still requires a Shuttle, doesn't it.

Yup a shuttle is an instant boost to any fleet. But what the hell would I do with only a shuttle... to bad no advanced sensors for me, yet.

In this scenario Y-Wings are your friend for the superior hull. I might even be tempted to add an engine upgrade for the ability to maneuver and keep my opponent guessing. Ion Turret is a must as your opponent will spend a lot of time hitting asteroids. I might even go for a three ship build with a B-Wing with Ion Cannon, again with an engine upgrade.

In this instance Ion = Good as crashing is very likely when ioned.

Try the list below, get in among the asteroids and make your opponent work hard.

You could also drop a proton torp for an R5 on each Y-Wing to flip crits with "ship" over and add FCS to the B-Wing for greater chance of Ioning again next turn on the same ship.

In fact, let's do that.

Now you have some nice TL and Focus action to get those Ion shots in or just plain kill shots.

I wouldn't fly the Falcon - the big base is going to be unforgiving in this situation.

I would consider 2 Y's for those Ion Cannons and maybe Engine Upgrade, and 2 A-wings with either Push the Limit, or Expert Handling. You're looking to dance around inside the asteroid field, and force your opponent to follow you.

Might be a job for R5-K6's damage removal action.
