Attachments, house cards and locations

By Ascolta, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hey guys, new to the game and I'm still a little hazy on some rules!

I skimmed over the forums here as well as the rule book and couldn't find the answer I was after.

Questions are:

  • Is there a limit to the amount of attachments a character can have?

  • Are locations able to be destroyed?

  • And finally, what is the benefit of using a location as an attachment to your house card? For example the card 'Queen Cersei's Chambers - You may choose to play Queen Cersei's Chambers as an attachment to your house card' What is the benefit of this?

Sorry if these are silly noob questions but cheers in advance guys!

  • Is there a limit to the amount of attachments a character can have?

Generally speaking, no.

But be aware that there are some characters or attachments that create such limits with their text.

  • Are locations able to be destroyed?

Yes. There are card effects that specifically say to discard locations, just like there are cards that specifically say to discard attachments.

  • And finally, what is the benefit of using a location as an attachment to your house card? For example the card 'Queen Cersei's Chambers - You may choose to play Queen Cersei's Chambers as an attachment to your house card' What is the benefit of this?

See the above answer. There are card effects that allow your opponent to discard attachments or locations. If you think your opponent is more likely to be playing with effects that discard locations (House Greyjoy has a fair number of these) than effects that discard attachments, it is safer to play the card as an attachment. Conversely, it you think your opponent is more likely to be playing with effects that discard attachments (House Targaryen has a lot of these) than effects that discard locations, it is safer to play the card as a location.
