Named X-Wing Pilots on opposite sides of the cardboard ship bases?

By SmartCookie, in X-Wing

6 pilot cards 2 are generics. It says so on the news article. I trust FFG because FFG has proven to not be stupid.

6 Cards and 4 bases make sense. You have 1 model and 1 base. You can run any one of the unique pilots, and if you have three other X-Wings you can run all four without anything extra. The 6 cards included make sense. Why would you need extra cards for the generic pilots? You get 1 generic pilot card with each model. No reason to include extras.

There is no drama here, just FFG taking care of their players.

Firstly, running two named X-Wing pilots probably means that I am running a three small ship list. As has been proven over many tournaments, these are not very effective and so it will likely not concern me.

What, because Wedge Biggs Rookie Rookie was never a viable list? Heck you could run 4 named X wings now... Tarn Biggs Hobbie Porkins comes in at 99 points...

Gah! Clearly not thinking through as much as I should have on that one. I've even run that list before. *facepalm moment.

Something to think about. Four named and 2 generic could be this:

Janson/Red Squad

Hobbie/Red Squad

Tarn/Rookie

Porkins/Rookie

That gives us the 4 bases shown and covers all...bases!
