The 54th Fighter Wing

By Engine25, in X-Wing

I love the new x wing pilots and upgrades in the transport, as do many people. Have seen middle PS pilots perform well, they attract a few hits early from ace squads, but shoot before swarms. So, I put together this 4 sexy wing list:

Hobbie

Biggs

Red Squad

Red Squad

2 fives and 2 fours. leaves 4 points. could switch a red to tarn and upgrade to PS5 with R2-D6+VI, could add R3-A2, could give all an R2 astromech, could give Biggs Elusiveness and stay at 99 or R2D2 to last a little longer.

Sound off!

This other thread got me thinking about how to spend the last 4 points in the squad.

Biggs will keep at least Hobbie, if not the whole squad (depending on the deployment strategy) on the table for at least a round or 2, but then Hobbie will likely be the main target. How about I put R2-D2 on on of the red squads, which will significantly improve its strength near the endgame.

When I use Biggs, I'm a fan of splitting him up with the guy I'm protecting and leave the others off to the other side. Since they typically setup afterwards, my rookies/blues set up first and hopefully oppose the opponent, allowing wedge+biggs to flank. But regardless, I try to set it up such that half their folks have R3 shots on Biggs, and the other half, possibly with a bit of overlap, have R2-R3 shots on my rookie.

I'd rather they target the rookie turn one, if they fail at killing the rookie, then Biggs can swoop in and protect the injured one. If they choose to focus on Biggs, not everyone can attack him, so he won't die, and they'll be left splitting damage, and no one will die.

In one of my previous games on Saturday, I ended up peeling Biggs off of Wedge and protecting my blue because the B wing was taking all the hate, meanwhile, Wedge pulled off a K turn and was only in arc of 1-2 TIEs. This really frustrated my opponent because he got the B down to 1 hull on the first turn, but he never killed it.

Herm... what was my original point?
