New attachments

DC introduces the pistol grip attachment for converting a Range(H) weapon check to a Range(L). I thought a thread with people's house rule attachments would be good.

The obvious one I am making is the pistol stock. To convert a Range(L) to a Range(H). I know my commando has expressed interest in auto fire but doesn't want to carry a support MG sized weapon. DC intros a couple of auto fire pistols so I thought a stock addon would be a good simple idea. I'm still deciding if it should turn a weapon with only short range to medium as the pistol grip does the inverse to long range long guns.

In addition I could see a Range(H) player with Lethal Blow upgrades being interested in a stock on a H-7 from SoF. Coupled with the new laser sight it would be quite the critical hit weapon.

In any event what kinds of attachments people have come up with interests me.

I want to give one of the PCs in my game a force pike that can be retractable. I think that would be sweet. Make "Retractable" an Attachment for large melee weapons, requiring 1 HP? What could be a cool upgrade feature/features to tack on as possible mod(s)? What mechanical effect would it (and they) have?

Retractable weapons could be useless in their collapsed state, but that's probably extreme. Just reduce their damage from the lack of leverage. Something like -1 damage in it's collapsed state and the weapon now only has two hit points instead of three as it's inherently more fragile.

Here's what I'm thinking:

COLLAPSIBLE

With a few twists, or the push of a button, a large melee weapon with this upgrade can be collapsed down into a more manageable package for ease of transport or to tuck under a heavy jacket.

Base Modifiers: The weapon can now be made small enough to conceal on a person. When collapsed, reduce the weapon’s Encumbrance rating by 1, Damage bonus to half (round down) and any Special Weapon Qualities are dormant while in this state. It requires a Maneuver to expand or retract the weapon.

Modification Options: 1 Reduce encumbrance by an additional 1 Mod, 1 Increased concealibility (add t to Perception checks made to detect the weapon) Mod, 1 Reduce action to incidental Mod.

Hard Points Required: 2

Cost: 500 credits.

There's probably a couple ways to convert a Rng Light to Rng Heavy. I'd say Marksman Barrel is a decent enough base, but maybe knocking it down so it's only 1 +1 Accurate Mod, or removing all the mods altogether, then switch out Cumbersome 2 to just a flat rule that it has to be wielded two handed or gives 2 setback for trying to use one-handed.

For the retractable mod, it depends on how it's retracting, and to how small. If both sides shrink, you could cut the damage in half (rounded either up or down), and let it be used single handed if the player chooses. Probably give an inherent -1 to damage since it's not just a solid rod anymore.

You might want to check out Cartol's Emporium by Jergelyte (sp, sorry man). It has an auto-fire attachment and collapsible melee weapon mod. It's a great source.

My question becomes is do we really need this? Why not just use the Force Pike stats when it's full size, and then use the vibroknife stats for when it's collapsed. All you would need to do is change it so it has the stun setting instead of pierce 1.

That isn't to say that what you came up with is bad, but does the PC ever intend to use it as a weapon when it's collapsed? If they don't then in fitting with the narrative aspect of this game just say it can do it.
