What exactly is the prone state. If you take a maneuver to go prone, it adds a setback dice to ranged attacks against, but a boost dice to melee attacks against. Can you fall prone (doesn't it mean knocked out?) can you cause other NPCs to fall prone. (I guess it means lying down) When your wound threshold is exceeded do you go prone and suffer a crit?
What is the Prone state?
Lying down.
So if you knock a NPC prone, on the next round they can get up?
Yep, it takes a maneuver to stand up from prone, or to drop into prone.
Prone would be a good state to be in when you're a sniper lining up a shot. You're lying on the ground, very stable, not moving around much at all.
It also makes it harder to shoot you from a distance.
Prone's not a good state to be in when someone is punching, kicking or stabbing you because your reactions are limited.
Ok, I just wanted to know how it was differentiated from being knocked out

Depending on the situation and surroundings, prone can be a great benefit (or hindrance) in social encounters too.
Prone is an actual word, not just an RPG term:

Not trying to be a smart***, just saying in case you were unaware.
Yeah I looked it up after I posted... duh.
