Rhino's YT-2400 thread!

By Rhinoviru3, in X-Wing

What's up forum?

This is a thread that will track the progress the integration of a YT-2400 freighter into my Rebel forces. This thread will cover the model itself, as well as some speculation as to rules/dials. Any input you have is crucial - especially with house rule stats for it!

Onto the fun bit. Here is what I have so far!

Here is an idea of what I want to the ship to look like stats-wise. What do you guys think?

It's essentiallly like the ORS, but with one extra agility and few hull/shield points. Seem fair? For named pilots, I will of course increase cost and stats (not unlike the Falcon pack), but I was thinking of making it interesting and adding a system slot for named pilots. Thoughts?

Don't know if the YT-2400 should have a Cannon upgrade, i think a 360 degree firing main weapon suffices.

Don't make the same mistake as with the Falcon, don't change the stats, just do an Outrider unique title that grants +1 firepower and maybe Elite pilot talent and Systems upgrade for Dash Rendar.

That is cool. Did you make that ship?

Wow that model looks professional. I'm going to vote "no" on the different stats for the Outrider. About the weapons from the lore and games I feel it should have several weapon options because it is suppose to be one of those super customizable ships

This was my thinking also; I want to give lots of unusual options for a ship of this size - perhaps a systems slot!

I really want to make my own pilots and titles for this, but I'll definitely make Dash and the Outrider

Very neat, what dial will you use?

Systems slot is a great idea and I look forward to your takes on Rendar and the Outrider title.

Thanks very much all!

An update; I undercoated it this morning and have some comparison shots next to my '1300:

I like the paint job on the YT-1300. Though I am biased by the fact that blue and grey are my favourite colours.

Can't wait to see what you do with the YT-2400.

You gonna do any commisions for more yt-2400s

So who's Shapeways model is this? What material did you get it in?

Apologies for my threadomancy gents, but we are 50% done with the model!

Threadomancy on a thread that is only 36 hours old?

Anyway, looks great. I knew the 2400 was smaller than the 1300, but I didn't realize it was that much smaller, is that model actually to scale with the falcon?

I meant double post. I think my sleep-deprived brain is telling me it's time to go to bed!

Yes, the 2400 is still in 1/270. I forget the name of the chap (or chapette!) that made the 3D model, but the link is in a post above. Very impressed with Shapeways!

Actually, that link is taking me to an error message that says I don't have permission to perform the action, or something like that.

Not a big deal though, I can't afford anything from shapeways just yet anyway.

If you gonto the BGG link you can find the 2400, Mel does outstanding work. Between him and Gosric, I could keep a team of painters busy for a month, if I won the lottery.. lol...

Drat, I'll see if I can get you a better link. This wasn't Gostric, but the work is just as amazing!

I love Shapeways. Very tempting to stick my own 3D models up and get them to make it for me XD

Look how big the gun is compared to the yt-1300...and it's to scale? That must be like a 4 attack gun!!

According to the Star Wars wiki, the YT-2400 should have a 180 degree arc for its turrets (auxillary arc like the Firespray?), cannon upgrade, missile upgrade, and systems upgrade. I'm not sure about stats.

Honestly, I would give the YT-2400 the same stats as the upgraded YT-1300s, as the extra armor and weapons Han installed on the Falcon would make it roughly equivalent to a YT-2400.

It should likewise have 360 firing arc, missile upgrade for sure, possibly twice, and 2 crew slots. I can see the reasoning behind the cannon upgrade, but I'm not sure about systems.

Mechanically, there really isn't much difference between a YT-2400 and a YT-1300. The main reason you'd put one in is for a Dash Rendar pilot card.

Now, if you wanted a freighter that would be mechanically different from the YT-1300, consider the YV-929 Armed freighter. It would be one hell of an expensive ship though. I figure 3 attacks, 1 agility, 8 shields, 8 hull, cannon, systems, and missile upgrades, 2 crew, and a special 5 attack turbolaser secondary weapon (range 3 only). No idea who the named pilots would be for it though.

Off topic .. but your paintjob on the YT-1300 is the best I have seen. The colours/shades are perfect. Well done.

To add to Conan's statement, I think Rhino's paint skills are so good that he turned what I consider troublesome textures (just how Shapeways is) and managed to make the ship look GREAT.
