are their any useful formations for ships other than a box or a line? like is their any reason to fly the wedge formation vader and his 2 ties use defending the deathstar?
formations
To look really cool! Also I try to use either a reverse wedge with biggs in the back and try to keep him at range 3 while the other ships are range 2.
I saw someone posting about flying a formation where the front and rear ranks were offset, thus

Apparently you can squeeze ships together tighter that way and still maneuver in formation.
Except, of course the forum is changing the formatting on my diagram

- Darth Vader (29) + Concussion Missiles (4) + Stealth Device (3)
- Mauler Mithel (17) + Veteran Instincts (1)
- Backstabber (16)
I love running a Hex, as I'm a swarm-runner ![]()
If I fly 4 ships I'll put them in a finger four formation and put the lower ps pilots as the flight and element leads so they move first and the higher ps ships as the flight and element wingmen.

I like to run my B's like this, but instead stack them side-by-side, not one on top, one on bottom...to leave room for a barrol roll.
For all close formation it is useful to put the lower PS in front, but that is pretty obvious. The staggered lines is also really useful. 90 degree turns were never really a problem for formation, but the 45 degree turns messed things up. The staggered formations helps with those 45 degree turns.
