I think its become obvious they are going to continue releasing special ships and sets.

By KILODEN, in X-Wing

I love A-wings and Wedge but he's never in one so it would be inappropriate. There are several named A-wing pilots in the Wraith Squadron books though, including General Crespin and Polerarm Squadron. Two other named pilots are in Polerarm, Tetango Noor and some gal I forget. They race through the Pig Through in Wraith Squadron (book 1) with Runt and Kell.

Tycho in an X-wing makes sense, though we have a lot of X-wing pilots already and he does get screen time in an A-wing in ROTJ.

I understand what you mean. I'm just trying to work out why you're mentioning it because there is already a rule in the game that prevents you from taking Luke in his X-Wing and Luke as a crew member in the same list. The very same rule would prevent you from taking Tycho in his A-Wing as well as Tycho in his X-Wing (or whatever other duplication they may create).

Yup; the 'unique' dot prevents you from taking any card with the same name, even if it's a different card. The only pairings it applies to at the moment are Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca, who exist as pilots and as crew, but if you were to create, for example, a card called:

* Tycho Celchu

X-Wing

Then you couldn't use it simultaneously with the A-Wing version, because it's unique and has the same name.

I think going for larger sets or generally more and more sets could collide with their strategy of packing certain unique upgrades/pilots with certain expansions. While I can understand and to a degree welcome the multilevel motivation they offer with specific expansions, I doubt that understanding would survive too many too big "need to have" sets.

Also, as mentioned before, as long as they don't change their main target for the tournament format, they probably keep to something like the imp aces, which can still be combined with other ships without filling already the 100 points.

As for duel packs, it's something they might do. In general I got the feeling that X-Wing got more people collecting both sides, at least up to now, than other games, where financial reasons alone suggest you decide early one which side to play.

So they might try something like that, I for one would actually prefer a single ship expansion with pilots for both sides, there should be enough ships out there which had (mentioned) dual side use, but that's another story. ;)

Polerarm Squadron! Yes please!

I was really hoping to see a named shuttle card "Tydirium" that made the shuttle a rebel ship.

special rule = could not be fired at until it fired at one of your ships

A Shuttle and a Y Wing set that gives us pilots with EPT slots would be nice. I wanna Barrel Roll my shuttles very badly.

I don't know much about the EU, but I do like the idiot of pilots in different ships!

Like the title says, what sets or special ships would you people lime to see in this game? Lets keep it to ships that are likely to be produced. No star destroyers and crap like that.

I personally would like to see larger sets. Like a 6 ship squdron. Or a shuttle with 2 tie fighter escorts.

Or hell. What about duel packs. Xwing vs interceptor with new upgrade cards and pilot skills.

What do you guys think?

I only lime with tequila and Corona.

Never in a coconut?

Could be nice a "100 pts pack" something like a pack with a combination of ships and cards that allow you to have a 100 pts army. Could be a rebel box and imperial box.

Not sure if should have new cards, because people will not like to be forced to buy the pack just for one card (cough transport cough)

I know the pilot skill 8 is Wes. Then the five is Hobbie. Porkins is a 7. Not sure who the 3 is. Someone in another post was able to decipher it.

It's Tarn Mison. And Also, I'm betting Janson and Hobbie are the 8 and 7, Tarn is 5, Porkins is 3.

This actually is a pretty good idea - It would be a good product for people who have just picked up their core and are looking to expand, but could also include one or two cheeky pilots and upgrades unique to the box so that other will buy it.

Decent move from a Business standpoint, I would say!

Porkins pilot ability- I can hold it- when defending treat attackers dice as crits that can't be cancelled.

First: I have the ambition to run a big game. 1000 points range. I'm stark raving mad, and it may take a while but I wanted to make clear where my focus is.

Second: I like the 1 X-Wing and 2 Ties starter, because it saves a little money. Not much. Not enough for another ship. But a little.

Third: I don't think FFG should do mixed sets as not everyone wants to collect both sides of the battle. But I don't think they should do mixed sets from one side or other either. There are craft I don't want to collect, and craft I want in numbers.

Fourth: FFG could do repaints represent different squadron pilots. But then, how many would they sell? I'd like that and would buy, but we're talking about one or two.

Fifth: My wish is that lower the price but keep the quality. It would encourage me to buy more because I have set myself a hobby budget and it will ALL be going on things Star Wars related.

Conclusion: I can't really see any sets I'd buy unless it was two or three of one type of starfighter, such as X-Wing or Tie Fighter, as I presently don't want any E-Wings or A-Wings. Might get B-Wings, but not as many as Y-Wings and certainly not as many as X-Wings.

Since the E-Wing doesn't appear until after the Empire gets defeated at Endor, this hints to me that FFG might take the game to other eras. I don't know if I'd collect Clone Wars, though I might get some fighters for when I want a system defense squadron or pirates, and I'm not even sure of anything after the Rebellion era. That's not to say we won't see more EU ships and I for one have set my sights on the Starviper.

Someone had done a custom card for the StarViper and it looks cool. I'd buy some based on looks alone.

I think as the game evolves, it's going to have to get to that point to stay relevant. It can't keep diluting the Tourney pool with more ships, but has to give players a reason to stick around.

Why? Each wave adds more ships but hasn't so far made any list obsolete, FFG has done a great job of avoiding power creep. If they can keep that trend going they can keep releasing new ships but the tourney pool won't become diluted but rather will have more and more viable options.

Myself I hope they never go past the standard 100 point game, other then with new rules sets. I full intend on buying the Transport and CR-90 when it comes out. I will play epic rules... But I will not buy another 8+ Tie Fighters.

They could do a special set of the TIE Experimental Project with all five experimental TIE designs. Of course, those ships were remotely piloted, which takes away from the appeal of the pilot cards.

I'm hoping for a TIE Aggressor with a rear-facing firing arc.
