Actions as Pilot Abilities?

Just out of curiosity, how would people feel about there being that gave a specific pilot an action his ship normally didn't have? Be good for mid-tier level pilots perhaps? Like:

PS5 Random Pilot (in X-wing)

Ability: Your action bar gains the evade action.

Or even an ability that triggered an action they wouldn't normally have, such as:

PS5 Random Pilot (in X-wing)

Ability: You gain an evade token after performing a K-turn.

That kind of thing. Perhaps the concept could even be made into a modification or EPT?

Lateral Thrusters [5pts]

Gain an evade token whenever you perform a barrel role.

(Though that might be OP since it's essentially two actions.)

This exists in a couple forms, but the most comparable to your top example is the engine upgrade card that gives a ship boost at just the cost of the card. To your bottom examples, expert handling is comparable, though not exact.

The latter shows how it might differ from current game balance and design. IE, to get something your ship doesn't have, you're often going to take a penalty on top of it (stress token).

I know it exists in certain mechannics like modifications for boost and expert handling, I just mean how would people feel if such 'cards' were turned into pilot abilities.

I was trying to come up with some similar mid-range pilots. A friend and I wanted to do a campaign with named pilots only, but since there are so few, we would need to come up with several of our own. If they died, then they would be replaced by a generic.

I really like the one about the k-turn and evade token. Effective and simple, as well as consistent with other abilities. I had an idea for both an x-wing and tie fighter:

PS4 Dude McGuy(of course he'd have a real name)

During the End phase, if you have an unspent focus token, perform a free boost action.

or barrel roll or whatever. Maybe the TIE gets it if he has an evade token.

TLDR: I like where you're going with this.

PS: !!! Are those wave 4 ships in your signature customs, or pre-orders??
