Wave 4 at the printers!

By DarkGuard, in X-Wing

so much goodness printing!

That's promising! Hopefully we wont see wave 4 delayed as much as the large ships or aces have been.

That's a busy factory. The Interceptor and A-wing finally went to the printers as well.

Only five more months until Gen Con.

Hopes are too high, yours are.

by printers you clearly mean: they printed copies of them on the office printer.

That was... Fast.

suhweeeeet.

That was... Fast.

By the time we saw their teasers, they would have all or most of the design layout sorted. So them going to the printers so soon after the announcement is not surprising. It is only surprising due to previous delays on other releases.

It seems to me (and this makes perfect sense) that the "in development" phase really only exists for already made products waiting to be cycled through the production line again and so is bit of a misnomer. By the time they announce something we can be fairly sure the miniature itself and it's basic stats have been decided on. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with revealing something still in development that may change later but I can see why they'd like to limit speculation/commentary to actual products. Frankly, I imagine the ships are "revealed" and placed into the development phase long after the initial phase. That way, when they announce it, it is still technically in development and then seemingly at the printers quickly -- generating feel good excitement. (Which is exactly what happened.) The interview Team Covenant did with FFG at Gencon last year had them saying they were already working on ships way in advance. I bet the true development team already has a decent sketch of wave 5 in the works and so forth. You don't announce something unless you're already confident it's going to be a go. [Example, see "SW Game Tiles"] The delays come after they've been at the printer and actually manufacturing details on a mass scale inevitably crop up, also understandable.

So how long on average are things usually at the printer? A month? Then a month and a half say for shipping so we may see them for mid may, or even the 4th if we are luxky

I should try and run down one of the threads but I believe people have said that you are realistically looking at at least 3 months from announcement to delivery.

The Aces were obviously a longer time frame. Not sure why. Perhaps Manufacturing issues.

yeah!!!!!

only 12 months till they get to the store!!!!!

:P

So maybe we will have more News about wave 4 soon, hope they show more cards and so.

Aces was apparently delayed due to Chinese New Year. I have heard from multiple sources that that causes big manufacturing delays every year.

Which is interesting, because Wave 3 was announced in May, and came out in September. So Wave 4 takes 2 extra months compared to Wave 3?

Well it's 2 extra months but with Imperial Aces, the Transport and CR-90 thrown into the mix.

As compared to getting caught up with Wave 1 and 2 demand? The Imperial Aces delay was really unfortunate. But I don't see the reason to be soo pessimistic about all the other releases.

Ack, somehow I thought it was early April right now, not early march, sorry. My timeframe was one month advanced, so July, not August. 4-5 months. Basically I wanted to curb the speculation that wave 4 might be out in May.

Yeah, there is no way Wave 4 is May. A slip to July isn't out of the question though.
