Obi-Wan card?

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

If they ever made an Obi-Wan card, what would it be?

I can envision two version. The crew card would be an obvious first, I imagine it would be somehow related to focus, IE - after you spend a focus token, gain one additional focus token.

But another way to include Obi-Wan would be his ghost. Maybe an elite pilot skill - Inspiration of Obi-Wan - At the beginning of each combat phase, add one focus token to the ship, and remove one stress token if able. Make it cost like 6.

Those might work, but I prefer this...

Inspiration of Obi-Wan - If you have a secondary weapon you can fire it without a TL and destroy any moon sized unit. ;)

Add the disclaimer "Does not work with Han Solo Pilot"

your first idea would be to OP with this (Obi-Wan being 3-5 points)

Kyle Katarn + Moldy Crow + Blaster Turret + Obi-wan crew (31-33)

All he would have to do is focus once for the whole game and after he could use all else to target lock! He would be very OP and it might even be a good idea to put EU on him now that he only needs to focus once for a entire game of mega focusing. That card would really change the life of the HWK i could even see people sprinkle this in a build...

Rebel Operative + Moldy Crow + Blaster Turret + Obi-Wan crew (26-28)

If it was used i would suggest something like this...

Obi-Wan Kenobi (4)

"Once per round when you use a token (Target Lock, Evade, Focus) immediately gain a the spent token"

That way it still has the same effect but would not make the HWK now be 50% better. Also yes i do know this would be very similar to recon specialist except you can use it with target lock and evade as well. Just my suggestion though, tell me what you guys think.

It's a travesty that Obi-Wan is not in the game!

I think he's best suited as a crew member. Obi-Wan is known for his defense and his strategy. I think the "ghost of Obi-Wan" is seen in Luke's pilot ability. I think Obi-Wan's crew card should read: "Once per round when Defending, you may change 1 of your Focus results to an Evade result."

Obi- wan Kenobi, PS4

If you suffer at least one damage or receive a stress token, choose one ship at range 1-2. That ship may perform one free action.

Based on the beginning of Ep3 where he gets shot and Anakin saves him.

Definitely firing a secondary without needing a target lock comes to mind, but we already have that EPT Card. Crew would be cool im sure if they start doing clone wars era hell be a pilot. Maybe something new like, spend a focus and you can reroll all dice for attack / Defend or even just defence, i dont think theres any upgrade that lets you reroll blanks on defence... hmmm interesting

Somewhere last fall we discussed this same issue. One idea was that if the pilot either firing at Obi-Wan or being fired at by him could be effected by the force. If you are a lower level pilot firing then he would receive an evade, if firing he would receive a re-roll of any misses. Another idea was that he could look at one other pilots movement dial that had lower pilot level than him. We estimated his pilot skill would be 6 or 7

maybe make it one use crew like Chewy. Can do the blind fire and maybe add a focus when you do so, then its gone?

Hokey religions and ancient weapons ....

lol

I know you're thinking of a crew card for Rebel ships, but I'll just throw this Republic-era card I made for him into the discussion. Obi-Wan Kenobi was not a particularly skilled pilot (he was still above average), but he was known to be an incredible tactician. Whatever he does should be something along the lines of improving the efficiency of friendly ships. I'm not sure how he should best help a ship he's in. Anyway here's the card:

Ahhh, Kenobi's good old' "grip it and rip it!" mentality. :D

Obi Wan ability: "when you reveal a red maneuver, you may elect to instead have it be a ZERO maneuver, and instead receive 2 stress tokens".

Hence he "Hates flying".

Great work on that card.

Being X-wing takes place in the Civil War time period, I don't think FFG should release old Obi-Wan as a pilot. Honestly, he SHOULD have been a crew member included with the Falcon. I have no clue how FFG could release him now, as we've only ever seen him on the Falcon and the Death Star. (Guess I just answered my own question. lol)

To honor his defense first and high level of strategy, I like my suggestion of a crew card that reads: "Once per round when Defending, you may change 1 of your Focus results to an Evade result."

Of course, I agree with you. As far as I can tell essentially the only place Obi-Wan would fit into the Rebellion period would be as a crew card for the Falcon. Even then, he was only on it for a very short period of time. Unfortunately, Obi-Wan doesn't survive long enough to play a serious role in the Galactic Civil War. I can understand why FFG chose not to include him.

I think Obi-Wan played as much of a role (going by the movies alone), if not more, than many of the named pilots that died at Yavin. Porkins is about to get his own card and all he did in the movie is die due to technical failures. Obi-Wan guided the Falcon to and out of the Death Star, and then he helped Luke blow it up.

I still think FFG will release a Death Star set of some sorts (maybe a play mat with turbo laser tower miniatures) and if they do, Obi-Wan is a prime candidate for a Rebel card.

I guess I was just thinking in terms of actual space battles and dogfights. Obi-Wan didn't physically participate in any, and I feel like his aid to Luke in the Death Star trench run is in some ways represented by Luke's pilot skill and special ability. I guess I just feel he's not necessarily appropriate as a crew card. Even when he was on the Falcon, they didn't engage in any combat.

But I don't want to be some cynic getting in the way of having Obi-Wan (who's pretty **** cool and important) involved in the game in some way.

No shooting for the Empire for one round: " These aren't the rebels you're looking for "

I like the ghost Obi Wan idea as a discardable free target lock or focus (even if the pilot already has one or both). Also make Obi Wan a crew upgrade that can be added even to ships without a crew slot.

Obi Wan

Crew - Light side only.

When alderaan is destroyed, receive 3 stress.

Once per round, recieve a free focus when attacking a ship you have a target lock on. discard this card when you gain a stress. (a la center yourself)

Haha!

FFG, if you are reading, hire this individual at once!

Obi Wan Kenobi

Crew

'Discard this card to travel back in time and biatch slap that little Anakin brat. If Darth Vader is in play, his ship immedialtely suffers 1 damage.'

My first thought was that Obi-Wan was responsible for deactivating the tractor beam, so some kind of sabotage card might fit.

And then I remembered that we already have Saboteur. And it isn't used very much.

I was going to say then they put out clone war ships we will see him. He might make a good pilot that gives free reroll of any result each turn
