Well its nice to see they are re - working some of the abilities and handing out some minor buffs. ActII Minion beastman get 1 more health I can only hope this trickles down to ActI minions as well. Bloodwood has her heroic feat altered a bit. And a nice buff to her stamina. I hope the razor wings get a Grey die buff to their defense but that may just be wishful thinking.
Bloodwood and Bestman
Have you seen the Act 1 card already posted? http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/descent-second-ed/news/hero-and-monster-collections/oath-of-the-outcast/razorwing.png
They have a brown die for Act 1
(Its the general about page for Heroes and monster collections, where bloodwood is featured already http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_npm_sec.asp?eidm=232&esem=1
Looks like Laurel has grown up from 1e to 2e, and has been hard at work training in the meantime; going from 3 stamina to 5 is a serious benefit for someone who seems to naturally 'default' to a Wildlander Scout class.
While it is no longer unlimited range, trading the excess range for a free surge is well worth the tradeoff; +10 range on a non-missing attack is still pretty much across most maps. Though I understand it's usually with a bow, I had the sudden mental image of Laurel throwing a hail-mary
Dwarven Firebomb
into a group of approaching baddies, with hilarious results.
Well I guess I should have finished my cup of coffee before posting the forum equivalent of rolling and "X"
+1 for the mental image of grenade snipers.
I think Laurel is now actually a really competitive choice , if only on the grounds of the stamina boost. The nice boost to her feat just makes it even better. I have always like the heroic ability that she has and this just adds a good draw to her.
If tweaks like these are rolled out through the collections i will be very happy, wonder what they will do with nanok? Im hoping for a reduction in his defense pool or a complete re working of his feat. Possibly both, something like reducing his regular defense to 1 grey and his feat being able to add 1 back defense die to his pool after initial dice have been rolled.
I think its good these are getting reworked, the monsters and heoes have been playtested extensivly prior to ffg even making these packs. So hopefully we will get to see some really nice ballance!
I'm a bit disapointed about beastman. They looks like a bit too weak to me, maybe the group should have 1 more minion.
i disagree on that one kind sir =)
beastman are really strong even now.
ravage lets them perform 2 attacks, when started correctly (dash, frenzy, any kind of movement, or spawned clever), which is good enough.
COMMAND is a hell of an abilty, making misses not your problem anymore (AWESOME!!!!)
place them in quests with strong reinforcements, or where they are spawned next to a killable objective and let them ravage for 8 (!!!) attacks!
the buff to the life seems ok, as long as the 2 health act I minions get a little buff...
but i dont really think, that another minion would do the kick =)
Oh and if possible try to get a master beastman adjacent to a group of kobalds! Not many quests you can do that but if you can, its really incredible for swarm.
Beastmen don't look weak to me, their speed is very good, their hit points are good for their speed, and they have ravage for when you need it. Command in particular seems very powerful. They don't seem particularly strong, but overall they fit around the middle of the bell curve, I see uses for them. Their speed is the main reason I'd use them.
I was originally very disappointed when I open my CK and thumbed through the monster deck to find the minion beastman had 2 health! than I shrugged it off and figured I couldn't pass judgment till I put them in play. they ended up being a mere shadow of their former selves. They were one of my favorites in 1st edition.
well...I'm mixed about this. on the one hand I may have to buy plastic I already own...on the other hand If they folow through the whole way It will free up plastic to run a first edition sea of blood campaign. Any chance of putting up the updated heroe and monster cards as a print on demand release for those of us who dont want redundant plastic?
Bloodwoods ability is the same .....she just gets a surge now and two extra fatigue...an extra health on the minions may or may not ..I personally liked that the same favorites in the 1st edition took a backseat this time..I always enjoy the offbeat monsters.
Looking at the subject line, I thought Laurel was getting married..
Yeah. Posting from my phone with predictive text and not enough caffeine in my system.
