Who cares about Corran I'm just delighted to get an E-Wing!
Absolutely loved the sense of humour in Arron Allston's X-wing books.

Agreed, the X wing series was excellent.. Allston did a great job there..

Michael Stackpole wrote the first four X-wing books, and Corran Horn was the narrator of those novels. (He's a bit of a Gary Sue, but the books are fairly enjoyable anyway.) Aaron Allston wrote the next five X-wing books, about Wrath Squadron--the "Dirty Dozen" style ones. It's been a couple of years, but unless my memory is very wrong Corran's role in those novels is much smaller--because they're about an entirely different squadron of pilots.

This ^ is correct. The two split the series and their individual styles helped develop each squadron's unique atmosphere. Both deserve praise.

But...but he senses something WRONG, he HAS to fight it!

Oh, no doubt--and for me Allston is actually the better writer. But it's weird to see so many people making the same mistake repeatedly.
The thing I am most disappointed about is we have Corran But no whistler in the E-wing. It seems very odd that FFG has the ability to use one of the only droids that plays a important roll in the EU (well in I,Jedi and the X-wing series, even then still not a lot but when you consider R2s were basically designed as GPS units it was amazing) and seemed to scrape the barrel as far as astromechs go.
Side note, as others have mentioned we have various pilots who end up as crew, and even an astromech as crew, so I think as new ship opportunities slow down, we will start seeing more repaints and new cards. I would also like to see some rules for Rebels to use some imperial ships, Wraith Squadron flew TIEs and Interceptors quite a bit, plenty of other missions where Rebels use stolen Imperial Craft, and Soontir Fel flew an X-Wing as part of Rogue Squadron.
Unfortunately the way the Star Wars universe was created we see much more of the Rebel/New Republic side than we do the Empire/Imperial Remnant so naturally the Rebel ships will have more named pilots
I'm really not upset about this at all. I adore Corran Horn, and I think he's a wonderful character. Yes, Stackpole made him. Yes, he flew a pretty white-and-green X-Wing in said books.
But if you care an ounce about this character; you will understand that, like every other pilot in Rogue flight that he flew other ships. After Rogue was reformed and Tycho was left in command, the squad was more diverse than a dozen Incom snubfighters - including E's and B's.
I'm just glad they've put him in the game. They could have gone with any number of pilots, and they chose lil ol' Corran. Celebrate with me!
It's just strange to me that FFG feels the E-Wing is iconic enough to put in their game, but then can't scrounge up more than 1 named pilot for it?
Did the comics/books not have any new pilots for those ships?
At least it's not the Phantom, a ship with no named pilots whatsover.

The could have used the TIE hunter instead of the TE phantom then they would at least have Sarkli (from the Rogue Squadron 3 Rebel Strike game) but I like the Phantom a crew slot+systems+4 attack value, it will certainly be fun to play with.
I certainly hope if Disney does 7-9 that they use E-wings and Defenders (My favorite ships, just beating out X-wings and Interceptors respectfully)
Meh, the E-Wing has no class. It looks like they just took an X-Wing, cut off the top 2 wings, and gave it a silly clown nose. Why Incom doesn't sue the pants off whichever ******* ripped off their design, I'll never know.
I am stoked to use them in game though

It's for the same reason Ford isn't suing the pants off the manufacturer of the 2014 Mustang for infringing on the design of the 1967 Mustang.
Edited by Vorpal SwordIf Corran's ability does let him fire in the activation phase, I think we've just found a prime candidate for Enhanced Scopes. Being able to move first, and then fire before anyone else has moved really opens up a lot of fun options for him.

I think that the Hunter is a distinct possibility to fill the heavy-interceptor role that the E-wing holds (the Avenger would be too, but I am unsure about its appearance ingame).

I actually think the Defender and E-wing are same roll, I could see the hunter though being closer to a way for Imperials to get more Ion cannons cheaper (thinking a statline close to 2 3 2 2, dial near an interceptor, similar cost, with torps + cannon upgrade icons)

I think the B-wing and the the Defender are more counterparts to each other honestly. It follows the "same but completely different" logic between the support ships. Both are heavy hitting tanks; one is slow and (relatively) cheap (and has a unique K-turn); the other is fast and expensive (also with a unique K-turn).

Well I was being silly, I'm not actually interested in EU lawsuits. That is an apt comparison though, the new Mustang has no class either.

I think he was more referring to the fact that (essentially) Incom made the E-wing.

I'm not sure if that's rhetorical or not. XD
The most fun thing to do would be to position him right in front of another ship and fire at them before they activate. Then, they move and either a. collide with Corran so they can't attack him/lose their action, or b. fly over or past him so they don't have a shot at him. Either way, Corran has the upper hand.
Even if you can't pull that off, being able to move and shoot before anyone else has activated means he can essentially pick his target the round before and be guaranteed to be able to get a shot off at them. Of course, this would leave him vulnerable to later attacks, so one would need to make sure that was the best move in any given situation.

It was serious, thanks for expanding. I completely agree.
If he does get to shoot in the activation phase after he has moved then enhanced scope and opportunist seems like it could be a nice combo on him.
I'm hoping he can change his manuever dial to anything before he moves, but loses his attack for the round. I don't think the wording allows for it but I think it would be fun.

If Horn does get to shoot twice in a turn then a FCS would be a must for him.
