Expansion

Bordering the Talisman Kingdom is the Great Darkwood, a realm in which nature is ruling self-aware. It is governed by The Few, the last ancestors of the old Treants.

But in recent decades, a slow corruption of nature herself has taken place. Powerful, warped magick of fallen heroes meddling in the balance of things has distorted the equilibrium of all things in nature, and now she has been forced to fall to either alignment’s side, twitching between benevolence and destruc­tion. Her animals and beasts have been warped to dangerous creatures, and few folks dare dwell there now. The Great Wood, formerly a mysterious realm of balance, is now called The Unhallow.

The Board is set so that the Forest entrance is next to the expansion's realm entrance. The Unhallow is in steady change between either alignment’s side, unable to return to natural neutrality. You may use the Hollow/Unhollow token to track the changing preferences of the woods, its inhabitants, and the tides of the alignment’s preferences.

The Unhollow Region starts out as Hollow. Whenever you are instructed to draw cards, you must draw from the corresponding Unhollow or Hollow decks, unless stated otherwise by a space or card.

Every hero daring enough to venture deep and deeper into the Unhallow might, long after lea­ving the last inn, the last traces of settle­ment behind, meet one of the mighty old Treant guardians of the Dark­wood. Should he or she be lucky enough to stand its imminent onslaught, an artifact from old times might be found. Draw one card from the Darkwood Artifacts deck.

Additionally, the brave adventurers will find themselves unforeseen stepping out of the trees’ shadow right back in the familiar lands of the Talisman Kingdom – choose any Woods or Deep Woods space in the Outer or Middle Regions to exit the Unhallow.

The smithys of the Talisman Kingdom have forged new steel equipment! Characters may purchase the following new Objects at the Village, Marketplaces, or during Market Days:

(1G) Quiver of Arrows

(2G) Bow

(4G) Two-handed Sword

(5G) Greataxe

(5G) Full Plate Armour

Also, characters may purchase the Heavy Horse at any Stables for 2 Gold. The Riding Horse from the Stab­les deck has been replaced with a new variant which adds up to 2 to the movement die instead of rolling one additional die.

Two new types of Objects can be found on the faboulous journeys in this realm:

“Trinket” = This object does not count towards your maximum number of objects you can carry. You may keep as many as you like to. Main board Talisman do not automatically become Trinkets.

“Two-handed Weapon“ = You may not use a shield or any other weapon simul­taneously with a Two-han­ded Weapon.
