4 wave 4 pilots I hadn't seen yet!

By Rakky Wistol, in X-Wing

I believe Rexler's ability is: After you perform [an attack that] deals at least one [Damage card to the] defender, you [may receive one Stress] token to [flip the card.] Basically taking stress to turn a Damage into a Crit.

This makes sense. The damage CARD implies that it is a hit to the hull, so yeah that works.

It's a good idea, but there's a grammatical problem--"at least one Damage card" is essentially plural, so "flip the card" doesn't make sense. If I'm attacking an unshielded Falcon that whiffs on the defense roll, what happens if it takes 3 damage cards?

It's not stress because it would allow him to flip multiple damage cards as worded. My guess is that line is "spend one focus token"

No it wouldn't. If it says he can take ONE crit to flip ONE card, that is exactly what he will be allowed to do. It doesn't allow him to tak two (or more) Stress tokens.

Who knows, maybe Rexler can suffer a stress to turn ALL the damage cards face up. Now that might make him worthwhile.

For those that want Whistler to have a cool special ability in a ship, I don't think he has one above and beyond what the droids we have already can do. From what I've read in the first three X-Wing books, Whistler's special abilities seem to be centered more on helping with Horn's investigating skills rather than in the cockpit.

So maybe give him an intelligence agent type ability from having spied out the enemy's strategy prior to the battle.

I would have thought Corran would have a focus based ability

As is the trend for other Jedi pilots so far..

Quick note for you all on the Tie Defender dial:

It does not have any one speed maneuvers except for the K-Turn. So it cannot have red one turns. How do I know this? Because every ship spoiled shows the first maneuver on its dial. And K-Turns go last in each speed category.

If the spoiled ships show the first manoeuvre on the dial, does the announcement give us the last manoeuvre on the dial?

Hmz, after checking older announcements I have to conclude "probably not".

Well, we all know that the Rebel Aces dropped, and it appears stress is an important player in the new pack. We know that the PS 6 B-wing (Ibtisam) makes stress as a good thing. What if Rexler's card text actually said: After you perform an attack that deals at least 1 Damage card to the defender, you may DISCARD one stress token to flip a card over. Now I doubt it would be the case, as this could be super broken(??) but it would make him a pilot that feeds on Stress (similar to Ibtisam, only in a more strictly offensive way).

I really really hope he doesn't have to take stress to do his thing. The empire can't keep taking hyper mobile and action hungry ships and requireing them to take stress to use thier other goodies. Especially if they are giong to keep releasing mobility nerfs and stress inducers in tandem.

So slow maneuvers are hard for the Defender? Then, probably its 3's are green.

We have super maneuverable, fast ships. We have slow, clunky ships. We have medium ships. How bout a ship that, instead of being slow and clunky out fast and agile, it is so FAST that the dial is limiting. we know the 5 straight is green. pure speculation, but maybe it doesn't have a straight shorter than 3, and has turns at 1 and 2 but they're all red? Would really set it apart.

I like the idea, but what would the unseen/new maneuver be on the dial?

A 1 Koiogran?
