HWK Swarm

Stone, Hwk is also one of my favorite ships, I currently really enjoy flying a triple Hwk build :)

I've had some successes with it, including a howl swarm w dark curse, and aabxx.

I love the Hwks also lol mainly because of dark forces 2 being one of my first video games when I was a kid and loved Jan and Kyle! I think people look at them and slap on a blaster turret and expect another millenium falcon and get disappointed. The hwk really requires synergy and planning as well as good flying. I think we are going to really see it shine in epic play if it's higher points games.

HWKs are great, but I think they have enough glariing faults that flying a full squad of them leads to trouble.

Sorry I thought the idea was a swarm list for this thread not a ship complement other non Hwk. The idea for just a bunch of this ship is bad

The thought is to Ion everything, have Nien take the stress and clean up shots

This would be a fun list to play against most 3-4 ship rebel builds. I think it will struggle against a TIE swarm where you can't Ion enough ships and what ships you are hurting are low value anyhow. The other lists that will likely cause it issues are HSF where you can't burn through Han's shields very quickly to start hitting hull and converting crits, or against two or more bounty hunters where you can't keep them both Ioned.

I think with build 2 would be able to take on some damage and be effective. If you are able to ion two ties and kill two in the opening and get the extra from the sab this could work. I think I might sub some x-wings and give it a shot.

A classic 7 tie swarm, on the openning there is 6 shots to you, but if all 4 Hwks make it ion the the named ties and try to kill two that did not fire. Next round that should knock out bonus effects and hopefully you can take out two more ties and ion the same named ones. Turn three you should be working on clean up.

Not likely; three attack dice versus three agility ships, doesn't net you a lot of hits. Especially since they'll be pulling focus on the unnamed TIE's and evade on the named TIE's. You might be able to nail one and damage another, but to do so, you're going to be range two, and quite possibly range one. The return fire will nail you very hard and HWK's aren't exactly the most durable thing. I would expect to lose at least one HWK to return fire at a minimum, and if I were playing the swarm, I would go for your blaster turrets. As soon as you lose one of those, your damage potential drops by about a third with that list and against a TIE swarm, that is huge.

I have got to try this soon! lol I bet it would do better than most people think.

This would come down to dice. Though against a non swarm list it would be solid. I think xxbb, or xxx would have a lot of trouble.

Sadly Dark Curse kinda ruins a swarm of blaster turrets having any chance at being competitive. But if know you won't face Dark Curse/get your opponent to agree not to it could be fun.

If you just kill all ships but Dark Curse, and have 1 HWK left over, you get a modified win by default when time runs out! 2 HWKs might make it a full win! I just don't wanna math...
