I'll be running my first (private) tournament soon and everything is manageable and obtainable (play mats, tokens of various styles) apart from asteroid tokens.

Now i own 2 base sets which provides asteroids for 4 players but my tournaments will have 16+ players and i don't want to cross into illegality by copying the official tokens or any other similar means and there simply aren't some available from 3rd party manufactures with the same shapes.

The real problem is that i want to organize Store Championships and maybe even a Regional so having original material is important but i simply don't want to buy multiple base sets just for a set of asteroids.

Any ideas or maybe FFG legal solutions for official tournaments?

Players should bring their own asteroids.

People always bring their own asteroids. Chances are that a lot of the players have 1-2 core sets of their own so you'll be swimming in asteroids (if you want to)

As mentioned people are supposed to bring everything needed to play the game, but if you think you'll need it I have an extra set I could send you.. shoot me a PM with your address and I'll get them in the mail tomorrow.. or Thursday.
