Upcoming tourney list; thinking Rebels?

By Rhinoviru3, in X-Wing

Hey Forum,

So I've got a tourney on Sunday for funsies, and one with prize support on the 22d. I'd like to toy around with some lists, and I am teetering towards rebels with 2x ORS.

Collection is in sig, I also have 2xAPL and 1x Rebel Captive

List #1, OOSky

Outer Rim Smuggler (27)

Anti Pursuit Lasers (2)

Weapons Engineer (3)

Outer Rim Smuggler (27)

Anti Pursuit Lasers (2)

Weapons Engineer (3)

Luke Skywalker

R2-D2 (4)

Marksmanship (3)

Idea here is to block and deny with ORS (getting in some cheeky hits) and have Luke mop stuff up with his pews. ORS have WE to give rerolls as often as possible, and Luke has marksmanship + R2 to keep him on the board delivering pain.

List #2, Kyle&2ORS

Kyle Katarn (21)

Blaster Turret (4)

Recon Specialist (3)

Moldy Crow (3)

Shield Upgrade (4)

Outer Rim Smuggler (27)

Anti Pursuit Lasers (2)

Weapons Engineer (3)

Weapons Engineer (3)

Similar premise, but with Kyle handing out tokens. Not sure if I'd prefer Jan here to give the extra red?

And a potential Imperial list:

Critical Firespray

Kath Scarlet (38)

Marksmanship (3)

Darth Vader (29)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Obsidian Squadron (13)

Obsidian Squadron (13)

Kath pews, Vader abuses two actions and TIE's are...well...TIE's

I've only played a game or so, so any advice and suggestions coupled with how to fly certain lists would be awesome! I'm hoping my ORS blocking and denial of action is a good idea, i'd really like to implement it!

I prefer Sable's: 2XORS+APL+Nav+Intell agent

that way i can see where they are going and can then do something about it. It will leave 34 points for you ship of choice ( or ships if you go with two prototypes)

I really like Sable's build too; my main problem is lacking the Lambda bits :L

I've had another look and it seems I am really lacking Red Dice, so I'm thinking:

Outer Rim Smuggler (27)

Anti-pursuit lasers (2)

Rookie Squadron Pilot (21)

R2 Astromech (1)

Rookie Squadron Pilot (21)

R2 Astromech (1)

Roark Garnet (19)

Blaster Turret (4)

Recon Specialist (3)

This build has more dice, and Roark can give the newbs PS where it's needed

I'd consider dropping Recon Specialist for the Moldy Crow title. Thought being you could stack some Focus on turns where you can't use it, and still have it when you need it later. If you ditch the Astromechs, you could take both and have plenty for Offense and Defense.

Not a big fan of the Weapons Engineer on the ORS. Sure it can let you TL twice at hold two but that is still 6 points you're spending that doesn't really help with the blocking you want them to do.

So I ran this the other day with resounding success.

Roark's Rebels

Outer Rim Smuggler (27)

Anti-pursuit lasers (2)

Rookie Squadron Pilot (21)

R2 Astromech (1)

R2 Astromech (1)

Roark Garnet (19)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Recon Specialist (3)

Total: 100

Resounding. ORS was a blocker and action denier with a little intelligent forethought. The opponent was either forced to move into ORS and suffer damages/action denial or flow around ORS into the waiting team of X's who were mopping the board. Roark was hanging back and dishing out PS12 where it was needed every turn, and was able to contribute by passing out some annoying ion tokens.

Considering running this on tourney day!
