Can't only small ships use chain-grapples?
Noob Ship Building Questions
That is why it can be a rough idea to start with a cruiser. You end up with a massive amount of power initially and so the GM has to START the game with a crazy high degree of difficulty. We started with a light cruiser, which means we had like 22 PF to start. Then on our first outing, when we finally got out to the back end of beyond we were trying to get to, he had us smashed on a warp shoal that almost broke the ship in half. So by the end of week one, we had a badly damaged ship with some destroyed components stranded out in the middle of nowhere. The campaign quickly became a story of trying to make allies and find a shipyard. But the only decent shipyard in the area is essentially run by the godfather, and trying to fix a light cruiser with 22PF is nearly impossible. So we ended up having to trade a mixture of unsanctioned psychers, blood, a contract with my Navigator house, and a single unqualified favor that could not be refused. Awesome way to start the campaign...
Perhaps you could simply break their shiny new toy and make them struggle with the realities of actually trying to maintain and repair a full cruiser?
Just for clarification: I am a player, not the GM. As i'm playing the Rogue Trader, i stand in close contact with the GM so he can plan a bit forward.

Makes sense to me! I play as the Navis Scion in our campaign, so I am always coordinating things with my starcharts and dossiers with the GM.
So... our Ork has now command of an Onslaught class raider.
Which - after our first combat - i really think we need, because 3 Onslaughts really tore us apart and the only reason we aren't dead was, that my Lord-Commissar-Captain-Colonel (he only needs one hat, but compensates with titles) said to the Teleportarium-Enginseer "Bring me their Boss." "But Sir... this will also bring other Orks with him." "This nearly sounds like disobeying my commands, Enginseer..."
Apologies for the doublepost, but i started making a log on fanfiction.net, retelling our adventures in the Expanse.
