So I've glanced over several sections of the book, and is it just me or does the character creation section leave thing a bit vague when it comes to how to proceed?
Creating Characters...
What specifically are you looking for in regards to creation?
Yeah its pretty step by step. Unless you're trying to build NPCs like PCs for some reason, then the problem is you missed how NPCs don't follow PC build rules (or some other rules for that matter)
the downloadable character sheet...
The CARREER? is used for what? The column next to all the skills.
Career skill:yes/no.
It sounds like it might be worth reading through the book, that kind of thing is covered pretty plainly in there.
The character creation process is also outlined in a numbered list, telling you how to proceed.
Skill ranks... I see that taking humans + a Career + a Specialization allows ranks to be gained in skills.
Can we overlap these so that a rank gets too 2. Or we must take new skills at rank 1 and upgrade them with exp. points.
Edited by Mike1977wow that was really helpful. ![]()
While I understand that obligations can be increased... But can you have more then 1?

You can get to rank 2 at creation and only rank 2. That can be accomplished with the initial skill selections so if the career say has Range(H) and the bonus specialization career skills also have Range(H) listed you could get Range(H) 2 at creation for no xp.
wow that was really helpful.

It might help to read the section on Obligation. No offense but that's a pretty basic thing covered in there.
You can have more than one Obligation. yes.

I already have more then once...
I probably phrased my question wrong... When creating a character is there any benefits in taking a second obligation without additional obligation on the second obligation? All it will do is increase your total obligation, right?
During character creation, the benefit would be that you can gain additional credits or XP to help build out your character.
If you've got 4 or 5 people in your party, your base Obligation is 10 points.
Suppose you determine this will be a 10 point Bounty Obligation. Your character offended someone in the past and they've put a death mark on them.
You could take 5 or 10 points of additional Bounty Obligation and gain XP (5 or 10 points, respectively) or credits (1,000 credits or 2,500 credits respectively).
You could instead take a second Obligation. Perhaps a 5 point Addiction Obligation, your character is addicted to Gambling.
From that 5 point Obligation you can gain 5 XP or 1,000 credits to build your character with. Perhaps you defaulted on a gambling debt in the past and your bookie put a price on your head.
Does that make sense?

It'll give you wings!
Perhaps you could just
Maybe that will get it to work for you?
One more question... All I know of star wars is what I have seen in the movies. No Books... With that being said, if we use the very first adventure from the beginners kit, where are we time wise? In which movie?
After New Hope, before Empire.
