updating poor Raph (possible?)

By knew_b33, in UFS Deck Building

I'm hoping to find a way to 'update' my poor Raph-SpeedPow deck with some of the new cards that I saw that could be somehow helpful with either making it faster or give it more technique for the offense or defense for upcoming problems.

Ascending Zephyr 2/5

Zi Mei's Wheel Kick 3/3+2M Stun:3-Kick
Swing Kick* 2/3+0L 3L2 Kick

Mesmerizing Dance 2/5+3M
From the Mouse, Humility 2/5+3L
Nursing a Grudge 2/5

I was just wanting more of an open-opinion from the better UFS players on how/where to place these cards in the deck so that it can be updated or if you have better ideas then I'll listen otherwise I'll just try to build a new Air deck using either Temujin or Zi Mei. thank you for your help cool.gif

Flurry of Thrusts x4 (2/5+3M)
Tag Along x4 (5/3)

Ankou x4 (2/3+2L Weapon - 4/3 4M2 Powerful:2-Weapon)
Family Tradition x4 (3/3+2H - 4/3 3H1 Powerful:2)
Ookie x4 (2/3+1M Ally-Unique - 4/3 3M1 Powerful:2)

Knee Gatling x4 (5/3+2M 3M4 Powerful:1-Kick)
Rolling Buckler Uppercut x4 (3/3+1H 3M3 Powerful:1-Reversal)
Omnidirectional Cluster Bomb x4 (5/3+1M 4M5 Punch - 4/3)

Blinding Rage x4 (1/6+1M)
Makai High Noble x4 (1/6+1H)
Tira’s Contract x4 (3/5+1L)
Billiard Player x4 (3/5)
Soul of Ling-Sheng Su x4 (2/6+2H)
Lord of the Makai x4 (2/6+1M)
Chester’s Backing x4 (4/6+1M)

Here's my ideas:

- Rolling Buckler Uppercut

+ Zi Mei's Wheel Kick

Th disruption on Zi Mei's kick, especially early game, is pretty devastating. You can do without Rolling Buckler, which will most likely not be a kill card most of the time, and sub an attack with similar stats and that killer Stun:3.

Ignore Swing Kick*. Its effect is good and all, but you should be able to set up and kill before you need a +0L block. If you want cheap low block, Olcadan's is your friend (I find myself using it more for the block).

Mermerizing Dance... it's a tough one. Considering that with the right setup they won't be able to block an attack that fast either, it makes it hard to consider, escpecially when anything else could be in its spot committing for Raphael's E. I would maybe keep an eye on it, but not right away. Test without it.

- some Flurry of Thrusts

+ a few Nursing a Grudge

Nursing a Grudge will make it so that you can play a Knee Gattling and fetch an Ookie. Great, and also running it with Billiard Player is somewhat wrong. I wouldn't sub all of them because 1) they have no block, 2) in case of emergency, Flurry of Thrusts can give you the much needed momentum and 3) it only works if your attack deals damage, and destroying a foundation is a steep cost for such a situational (albeit awesome) effect.

There you have my opinions.

I take it you are playing all those assets for the attack side.
Cut the Ookies. They are not very good and Ankou is a lot better.

Replace them with Healer. They will help protect against a LOT of attacks, mainly multiples.

playing the assets for both sides, just primarily the powerful side too while having the asset side as a benefit somwhere during the game.

and using Nursing a Grudge along with Billiard Player I was thinking in some how doing a foundation recursion to get back those keyword attacks as my defense against Bitter Rivals, alas it didn't last long as a strategy against a Nightmare deck I played against -.-;;

thank you for the opinions, I'll try to test around with the Healers and definitly will swap around the attacks.
