Mercenary Pay Scale - From Dangerous Covenants

By Agatheron, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Page 90-91 of Dangerous Covenants has a chart describing the expected pay-scale that the various Hired Gun specializations can expect for handling various jobs. It's the first time that we've had some close-to-specific guidelines on actual monetary rewards relative to an adventure. Enter the Unknown didn't have this, and I don't expect it to be the norm in the other sourcebooks as they come out.

I think the most helpful info is that the per-person rate per hire works out to be 500-2000 credits, depending on the nature of the job and the adventure itself. It also gives some guidelines (Average vs. Specialist) as to how much more one can be expected to be paid for when players get to higher skill levels. A group hire ranges from six to twenty thousand... which could serve as a general guideline for monetary rewards in a given campaign. Of course, alternate rewards are also good, but this is very helpful.

There's a lot in the book, as discussed elsewhere, but I think this deserves special attention.

Agreed. I am kind of interested in seeing if our GM's (My group has several) are going to pick up on this and use it to dictate custom contracts.

It was interesting to read. It would be nice if they do the same in some of the other books. Expand commerce and costs/payments for moving cargo and such. They could slip something like that into the Colonist book if they add some sort of merchant spec, or maybe include it in some regional sourcebook down the road.

I doubt they would do that for Colonist considering they already have a trader talent tree under the Explorer career. That being said that is a very good idea and I would love to see it. I was almost tempted to make a trader.

Well like I said, if they add some kind of merchant thing to Colonist it would be a good place to include it. A sourcebook on Coruscant would work as well.

I liked Trader as well. I liked Quartermaster as well. Dovetails nicely into an EoE smuggler setting well.

*onset of headache from seeing Sen Graham speak on tv*

Sorry. Anyhow Yeah I would love to see a non-combat focused book period. Smuggler, trader, colonist, explorer.

Enter the unknown is the explorer book, its already out.

It has very little to do with trading (almost nothing unless i missed it)

Not even going to lie, I thought I had all the books but I completely missed this one. I am going to have to go get it lol. That is a bit disappointing there is no trading specs in it. Granted I thought the trader would be better off as a colonist or smuggler.
