So how do you check the control value of the card immediately preceding this card in my card pool when this card isn't in my card pool?

Just wondering how this is gonna be handled due to the fact that when an effect says "this card" it means the card its printed on.

Assume non official errata of "X equals the control of the card preciding THIS ATTACK in your card pool".

Something along those lines, yeah.

Considering text on assets doesn't work until it's in the staging area, I would've assumed it referred to the attack anyways.

If you interpret it as if it were printed on the attack when you use the E, the "This Card" would be the attack you are enhancing.
