Familiar miniatures?

By ghalahad, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

A while ago, I asked the community if FFG would come up with mini's for the lieutenants. I received mixed answers, but eventually my prayers are heard! :D
Now I wonder if FFG would come up with mini's for the familiar's, especially because they never released such mini's before and with lieutenants they did ( 1st edition). I'dd love to hear your arguments/vision about this topic. Is it a better idea to wait or to proxy?

I was thinking this myself, maybe even some for villagers but they would be expensive due to tiny quantities

A heroquest skeleton might work for the Necromancer's familiar.

Villagers are not always treated like a figure in quests, so it may actually become more difficult to maintain

Would be great if they did but dont really think it's going to happen. I recently got a wolf and a skeleton which are the perfect scale to match Descent models, not sure what I'm going to do about the Geomancer's stones though lol, and that's also a reason why I dont think it'll happen. How many people are going to spend cash on a bunch of stones? I know I would get them but I'm also sure many wont.

Tried that already, they're too big.

Pick a few from the garden might do the job :P

****... Thanks for the heads up. Can I ask what figures you used?

Some - and that is the generic rule - are not figures, so they shouldn't be represented by figures,.

Otherwise, why not, but as they are linked to a specific hero, I am not that sure that producing a familiar figure independently from its hero would make a lot of sense.

I would go the way of proxies.

I got them off ebay, and was lucky enough that they were the correct size. According to their descriptions the reanimate is from Dungeons and dragons, while the wolves have a grenadier reaper tag. Still need to paint them properly. The skeleton will be better once I make his base as thick as the descent heroes bases.

I'm not going to say it's impossible that FFG would consider making familiar/villager figures. Mainly because most of the times I've said that in the past, FFG has proven me wrong. =P

That said, I doubt I would buy such figures myself. I'm actually happy with the familiars as tokens anyway, but if I decided I wanted more, I have plenty of proxy figs from other sources to draw from.

Plus, like Robin said, familiars/villagers aren't always treated as figures, so having a figure would only cause confusion in cases where they aren't really figures. Especially villagers, unless you wanted to keep the tokens as well and alternate between figures/tokens as required by quests.
