Anyone else not excited by next wave?

By herozeromes, in X-Wing

I wasn't super stoked about the Moldy Crow, but I got it anyway due to it being the only odd ship in that group. Also, I'm waiting impatiently for my Imperial Aces and the BIG SHIPS. For some reason, I just can't get excited about any of the next wave ships. The E-Wing and Z-95 just look weird and out of place next to the classic designs and, while I like the tri-wing TIEs, I'd rather have more TIE Interceptors. Anyone else feel this way?

I will probably get the sets for new upgrades and strategies, but I'm not pumped.

Anyone else feel this way?

I, however, am really excited to add two Phantoms, two Defenders, two E-wings, and three Headhunters in my collection.

I love the TIE Defender. Not really a huge fan of the other 3 ships (I always thought the E-Wing looked silly), but I don't really mind them.

I'll get 4 Z-95s and 1each of the others because they will be useful in this game and FFG's Star Wars roll playing games.

I'm sure there's some who aren't but based on what I've seen it's a pretty small minority who aren't interested in Wave 4.

I am excited! I love the e-wing

Definitely looking forward to a new wave even though I got in this game during Wave 3 and would love more time to play with current ships.

Z-95 is pretty iconic. I'll be getting at least two of it, then probably just one of the rest.

I love to paint my miniatures, but I like to always leave ONE of my miniatures un-altered, so I have the option of fielding CANON ships if I like.

Since these ships aren't from the films, I have absolutely NO problem with repainting all of them so I am excited about that part.

Nope, I'm pretty excited.
I've always been a big E-Wing fan - for every person who hates the look of it, there's a person like me who thinks the Defender looks incredibly goofy. Can't please everyone. I think it'll be a nice high end superiority fighter for the Rebels. Phantom should add some interesting high risk tactics and a whole new mechanic to shake things up.

Not a big Defender fanboy like many, but I think it and the Z95 are very smart additions, especially in the same wave. I don't want to get into a whole "Rebel Swarm" debate or argue the merits of the Headhunter in direct comparison to the TIE just because they cost the same. Regardless of that, the Rebels get a cheap, versatile option to round out their lists, and the Imperials get their own taste of a pricey, high performance fighter that kits out for around the same price as a big base ship.

I think that should do some very interesting things to the meta, whatever you think of the designs themselves, and that alone is enough to make me excited.

I disagree, I am very excited about the new ships. More EU stuff sounds great to me, keep it coming FFG.

Same from me!

This is probably the most excited I have been for a release. More so then the falcon and slave 1.

I love the EU and have read most of the books and eagerly await some ships from those books ie. Chiss clawcraft(imperial)

I understand the purists (not a fan of the prequels) but if they just took from the movies this game would be done and that would suck.

At least 4 z-95's for me and probably 3 of each of the others.

I feel bad for those that did not like the EU as much as some of us. I know that a huge portion of our players are going all-in on this wave and we are probably going to have some sort of Star Wars party to celebrate their launch. I can see how people (especially those that did not read any EU) would be a little weirded out by the new ships but at least FFG has done such a great job at balancing this game that probably won't be a problem if you don't care to run them. Here is looking forward to GENCON.

I've always had a soft spot for the Phantom, so I'll be picking at least two of those up asap!

Neither of the ships were on my list of favourites, and when I first heard they were coming i wasn't really excited. However, seeing them arriving to the game made me really like them even though at first I didn't.

X-Wing Miniatures Game is such a big part of my Star Wars fandom now that I count whatever FFG puts is in the game as much Star Wars as anything that is in any of the movies.

Fantasy Flight Games manages the Star Wars license better than any other player out there, in my opinion.

I am much more enthusiastic about wave 4 than I was for wave 3. B-wings are cool, bombers needed to be in the game even though they don't excite me that much in gameplay, but the HWK and lambda shuttle feel pretty out of place in a dogfighting game. They are great scenario pieces, especially the shuttle, but I had been hoping for Z-95s and TIE Defenders in that wave instead. After two waves with freighters and transports and such, I like that this wave is going back to the dogfighting aspect that the game was originally built as.

I also disagree with anyone that thinks the new ships conflict with the Star Wars design aesthetic, I find they match it quite well, but that is a matter of opinion I suppose

I'm super stoked. My two favorite ships are in it! I've loved the Defender and Z-95 since I was 8, so I'm pretty happy.

From a game perspective I am thrilled that they are adding more diversity and options. It is similar to how I feel about mirror matches, the challenge of a more diverse array of opponents is good for the depth of the game and substantively adds to the competitive formats.

Will wave 4 ships have the same classic feel as a X-wing vs a tie fighter match up? I'm certain for a lot of players it will, but for me it won't be the same as it will for someone more invested in the EU.

That said, I'll get over it and really enjoy playing with and against these fantastic looking ships. That they didn't appear in IV-VI is not so important to me as them adding more depth to the game and that they specifically seem to address some of the glaring imbalances established by the current faction and upgrade options.

I love the defender. I don't think I'm gonna buy 4 of them, but maybe two. Seems like it could be a very fun ship. Even though I haven't read much EU stuff about it, it still feels "Star Warsy" to me, so I'm happy.

The Z-95 though... Really excited. That ship makes playing a "bandit/crime" faction possible. Since Kath is a pirate, and the z-95's can basicly be bought for anyone with the cash... Really excited.

Now... Just gotta wait for FFG to officially say something about a Pirate Faction...

I held off buying into the game until I heard the magic words of "tie defender" now I am all in, playing tie fighter back in the day is my fondest star wars and video game memory.

I don't hate the ships, but I'm not excited about them. I am always up for new gameplay, though.

I love the idea of super-fighters that cost up half a standard squad, so the E-wing, Defender and Phantom are very exciting, but I have to say I think that the Defender looks pretty dumb (still going to buy and use it) . I also like the Rebels are getting a ship as cheap as the basic TIE while still being different enough to show the different styles of the factions.

I am excited. E-Wing is probably the most uninteresting, but Z-95 is so excellent news for many own scenariors having 3rd party included. And I have soft spot or the Defender too.

I'm hugely excited about the Defender, and I'm really looking forward to the Z-95. I'd never heard of the phantom before this announcement that I recall and I've ready almost every book in the EU, so no idea where they got it from. Finally the E-Wing... neither excited nor unexcited? Never really liked the design / look of it, but I'll still buy a few.
