BlueBacca or DaggerBacca?

By SmartCookie, in X-Wing

I'm trying out different builds with Chewie and two B-Wings.

Which list do you believe is the best, and why?

Chewbacca (42) with

Push the Limit (3) and
Millenium Falcon (1)

2 Dagger Squadron Pilots (24) with

Advanced Sensors (3)

In this build Chewie can get two out of the three actions (Focus/Evade/TL) from Push the Limit; hopefully prolonging his lifespan and increasing his damage output.

The Daggers have a PS chance against Red/Dagger builds, and trumps the ever popular Blues.

or

Chewbacca (42) with

Recon Specialist (3) and

Draw their Fire or Veteran Instincts (1)

2 Dagger Squadron Pilots (24) with

Advanced Sensors (3)

In this build Chewie can get two focuses every turn; hopefully using them both offensively and defensively.

The Daggers have a PS chance against Red/Dagger builds, and trumps the ever popular Blues.

or

Chewbacca (42) with

Push the Limit (3),

Recon Specialist (3),

Nien Nunb (1), and
Millenium Falcon (1)

2 Blue Squadron Pilots (22) with

Advanced Sensors (3)

In this build the B-Wings get demoted to Blues; losing the PS battle against Red/Dagger builds. In exchange, Chewbacca will have the option to get two Focuses as well as either a Target Lock or an Evade from PTL (and Nien makes it slightly easier to clear the Stress).

My personal choice for Chewie and B-Wings is

Chewbacca, Gunner, Expert Handling, Millennium Falcon (50)

Blue Squadron Pilot, Advanced Sensors (25)

Blue Squadron Pilot, Advanced Sensors (25)

Gunner really helps Chewie and Barrel rolling him and breaking target locks can make him very tricky.

The first list, i might take to my store champ, i done well with it

Try this... it will blow your mind... Expert handling is baller on large ships.

Um, Chewie can't fly with another Chewie in the co-pilot seat....

Drop either the MF title or NN to get a Gunner in there and that's a hard hitting list!

I've been having fun with a Chewie and 2 Bs list too. I've been trying to decide between blues with FCS or naked daggers. Both ring in at 24 pts. I've been using the daggers of late. I've done okay with it, but it seems to get worked over by high PS TIE swarms ( swarms with a couple high PS that can swarm tactics to make sure everyone shoots before Chewie). In that case, I'm wondering if the blues+FCS would do better since I'm not winning the PS bid. Then again, when playing against low PS lists the daggers shooting 1st is nice.

whoops... that's supposed to be gunner.. and subtract nien.

FWIW, I tied for first at a recent tournament with a Dagger-based version - Chewie w/ Expert Handling, Intelligence Agent, Millenium Falcon + two Daggers w/ Advanced Sensors. I think a Blue-based variant with gunner is the right call in a swarm-heavy environment whereas the Dagger one is stronger against many of the 4-ship rebel builds running around right now.
