Tinker, Tailor, Soldier...

By Col. Orange, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I’ve two questions:

I’ve had a disguise kit since right after the beginner game (don’t ask) – what skill is employed when using it? Is it a flat “chaps looking for you need to make a perception roll at difficulty X” or vs. a character skill (Deception, perhaps?)?

How does a chap go about concealing weapons?

Again, I don’t know if it’s a roll for opposing characters to make against a fixed difficulty or vs. a character skill (Skulduggery?).

I was leaning towards Skulduggery, but the wording in the text for the Shortened Barrel attachment makes me think I’m wrong.

For the disguise, Deception OR Skullduggery, but leaning towards Deception.

For the weapon, Stealth or Skullduggery.

I'm AFB right now, but the flexibility of the system allows for multiple choice when it comes to skills. Do what makes sense for your group, but make sure it is reasonably plausible. I've had an interesting argument or two from a player who has good pools for certain skills that clearly had no relevance to some situations. He was just trying to get the best pool possible.

Apparently concealing weapons is Perception vs. Stealth.

Here's a Skill Monkey segment that discusses disguise:

It recommends using Skulduggery, for the most part. I think that or Deception would work well.

I'm of the opinion that it's Skullduggery, all the way.

And Skill Monkey agrees, so...

I vote Deception for Diguise, because I think the Miriam Webster definition is more appropriate!

I go with Skullduggery to apply the disguise, and if the disguise is "not you" that's usually all it takes.

If you are impersonating someone else though, regular deception checks (and maybe a little cool every now and then)will be required, with the results of the disguise generating some of the modifiers.

Our Pit Droid has a disguise and I made it an Astromech Droid that he rides around in. He dawdles around moves up to a communication port, then this little hand sticks out and he Slices away.

Deception

UHF, that is awesome. I love the idea of a Pit Droid riding around in an Astromech!

or in a chariot pulled by Astromechs!
