So, I finally ended up winning a set of my own acrylic target locks! I didn't want to buy them from Ebay or anything because I felt like that was cheating, and I would feel dirty every time I played with them. Well, that and they're like $50 there! Ridiculous (actually, all of this stuff is ridiculous on Ebay).
But anyways, after finally getting them, I was a bit disappointed because they're hard to read and see the difference between the different numbers. I had to second guess whether I would actually play with them or if I would prefer the easier to read cardboard ones. But, a few minutes with a paint brush changed my opinion completely.
I diluted my paint to about a 2:1 water:paint ratio, and then just slopped it on the lock. Well, actually, at first, I spent over an hour painstakingly going inside all of the lines without going off of it, and then made a slight mistake towards the end, and found out just how easily it cleaned up.
From there, let it mostly dry. If you let it dry completely, then it makes wiping off the excess harder. But a quick wipe off with a paper towel, and only the etched paint stays in.
And whadder know, it's much easier to read! I did put two coats on before I called it complete. thought about doing this in something beside white, but I couldn't figure out what would make it look even better than just the contrast that white provides. Now there's no problem seeing them from across the table.
