does it matter?

By trane2, in UFS General Discussion

I just spent a couple of minutes rumaging through 2headeddragon and i realized something. the amount of characters each symbol has mater. life has the least chars(35) and is the worst symbol. I was just thinking that the most chars=the most suport, and the most options. if the rate of good characters to bad characters for every symbol is the same shouldn't the symbol with the most characters be the best symbol? My theory isn't conclusive. order has only 38 chars, but chaos and fire(as of set 12) both have 53 and are both very good. The next most is air with 48. death has 46 and in my opinion is on the rise. good has 42 (with Jt) and isn't very good straight, but is a good dual option and shares a lot of cards with air. All is next with 39(with jt) and is weakening. earth and order are next with 38. void has 37 and is on the rise. water and evil have 36, and both of them are hurting (less so for water). and life has a mere 35.

Maybe it doesn't matter, but like most wacky theories there apears to be truth in it.

Ex-STG staff member and creator of the game, Dave Freeman, has stated multiple times that the symbols on a character card represents their style within their personalities and fighting disciplines.

Your view, Trane, seems to be based on symbols alone.

Wow LOL I doubt you just noticed something that huge but it really doesn't matter.

The sets if I recall come out with 1 base symbol (which most of the cards in the set have)

It could be that they just haven't focused on certain symbols much and they are more than likely to expand apon them in the future.

I am just saying that symbols with more characters tend to be better. I am not talking about why they have those symbols simply stating that a lot of the symbols with more chars are better.

Hypothesis: Symbols that have more characters are stronger.

Expected results: The strongest symbols have the most characters, while the weakest symbols have the least characters.

Actual results: Its all over the place.

Conclusion: Symbols that have more characters are not stronger by default, it is the quality of the cards that support them, the synergy of the cards, and the style of them that gives a symbol strength or takes it away.

honestly other than order, the symbols with the most chars look are better.

The only reason it matters is because generally, the more a symbol is represented on different pack characters, the bigger the chance said symbol will have something good eventually. It's really just playing the probabilities.

Granted, this isn't a perfect game and we don't exactly live in a perfect world, but I'd like to see Life be more represented next set. I think we can pretty much all agree on the fact that we could put any symbol on any character and it'd still find a way to fit somehow. So more Life would be appreciated, although the amount we got this set is pretty decent. Ivy, Sieg, Tira, Yi Shan, Lu Chen are all Life.

Thing is, representing is not enough, you have to back said representation with good cards. Last two sets were good on that for all symbols represented, but yeah.

Earth is strong, but doesn't have alot of characters, and both all and void have a lot of strength yet have fewer characters, while good isn't super great but has a large (comparitively) number of characters.

Which is why I said "A chance", which is kind of an off-shoot on trane's theory. More cards = more chances of anything good. It helps that, conceptually, Good was never really intended to do anything relevant to winning.

to some extent maybe, but everyone has stated a reply that makes sense so......a quick reply.....NO just to spite you.

Well yes. A offshoot hypothesis might prove true. But the original hypothesis has proven false. Hence my comments.

My explanation for good is tat it has a lot of promo chars so it has less suport. I wouldn't say my theory has been proven false, just proven unreliable. I was just saying there was a patern, not that this was a concrete system.
