Endor done right.

By DanteRotterdam, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Oh Endor is ripe for prime storytelling. I've had this idea about post-battle Endor for a while: When the PCs get there they are greeted warmly by the Ewoks, who through a Republic-donated translator droid (I'm imagining the Rebels have a small presence on the moon, mostly working on rebuilding the villiages etc) apparently want to test them by having them go and kill a group of deadly creatures. They reach the location, dodge plenty of traps (more sophisticated than Ewok tech) and finally confront them to discover a platoon of Imperial troops who were abandoned during the hasty retreat. Half-starved, PTSD, just so thrilled to see other beings than the Ewoks. They've been hunted for sport over the last X years, a sort of ritual coming-of-age ceremony that all young Ewoks must undergo. Their numbers are dwindling now, though, and the Ewoks need new prey, so they sent you out to meet up with the rest of their "prey" and now are preparing to hunt you.

Harsh :D I approve!

I think what most of us GM's let slide too often is to really work the culture of some species into the game, especially in the instances, whee they might clash with the players.

Another thing that could be made on Endor is to deal with all the Death-Star II debris and possible nuclear fallout. Some Ewok-villages might need to relocate. Then it's your diplomat's job to persuade the leaders. Some Ewok's might even be considering colonizing another world and your players are an alliance team that is sent with them (out of gratitude for their help) and has to help them adapt to the new enironment.

For the adventure we did on Endor I stated out the Gorax and the players (with the help of local Ewok) used the traps that were set to take them out. It was epic...

See... I'd make this a Nemsis with a couple Adversary... then with some drive, Endor can produce a badass boss monster that can totally kill a PC!

I like this. Statting it into my Adversaries in OggDude's GM tools. Thank you for writing it.

yeah, I figured they get to nemesis levels once they reach even taller and no longer hunt in packs. Heck, I'd even increase their brawn at that point.

I have always loved Endor. Then again, I have always loved Redwood forests....

What are your thoughts on this?

I know this is an old topic that was resurrected, but Endor is the gas giant. The Ewoks live on the Forest Moon of Endor.

Forget endor. Forget the Teddy bears. I want it to be Kashyyyk.

In fact, in my Star wars game, Kashyyyk system is where DS2 is being built. and the system is heavily interdicted to hide the fact it IS being built there. When the main weapons is ready, it would be moved to the Wookiee homeworld, and then bothans would get a chance to know it was there, but many of them would have to die

It's inevitable for the out of the way places to get overdeveloped if they're used. Think about it from an aliens point of view. Imagine the aliens land in America (where aliens always land) for a brief bit and then leave. The next group comes in and then hops over to china where everything is completely different. The lexicon on our world begins to grow and grow with every visit. The diversity of just our planet is a great example of how worlds get developed the more they get used. Unless you subscribe to the planet of hats of course.

Which is also known as Endor...

And the sanctuary moon.

Who knew that Ewoks were used to make jerky. I'm going to have to tell my GM about it so he can it feature in our games from now on. :D

I'm curious... what dice pool would you all impose on a bike race through Endor?

Ewoks get a bad rap. They and Endor have as much potential as anything else in the hands of talented creators.

Definitely this.

I would love to see official Ewok stats. Hate them or love them, they were a part of the original trilogy, and are a valid option for players in that era - or should be.

I personally knew an Ewok. His name was Carey, he lived in Nebraska, and he played an Ewok in this spectacularly awful WEG SW game I was invited to join. Seriously, the guy was a 4' 6" wooly ginger with a squeaky voice. I hate that day.
