Collection for sale.

By Logic, in X-Wing

I apologize if this is inappropriately placed. It's been a while since I've been here.

I'm selling my X-Wing collection. It's on eBay right now. I would have posted something earlier but I really forgot about the forums. Selling it all because frankly, nobody play sin my area. At all. It's a cool game but the kid lost interest and it's been sitting in it's cases for months. Details are here. Auction is about to close but i'll probably repost it. Thanks for looking.

Sorry to inform you, but I could buy your entire collection for $320 USD brand new. You will have a hard time trying to sell it for $350 USD.

I think $320 would be a little hard to do, especially considering the extra stuff like the mat and the asteroids. That being said, I bought a larger collection for about half the price. $200 would probably be a good selling point.

I'd like to know where you guys buy your X-Wing items from for so cheap then. If I can't sell this collection I'll be buying more and trying to convince a few friends to get into it.

I bought mine on ebay used.

Sorry, forgot the mat and asteroids. But still the point largely remains.

This. Don't give up on a great game! Find folks to play with. What locale are you in?

I agree save your toys, they are awesome to have even if you don't play. As for buying, the prices at miniature market are very good, if you are in the US.

coastal south carolina. NOBODY plays here. I have searched everywhere. it's a bummer too. really cool game.

I hear that bribing folks with lots of alcohol can promote suckers, er, people to play. ;)

I must agree to this. Alcohol and flying makes for a fun time. Especially Scotch. Yummy Scotch.

I have 2 friends that barely got into it and I don't hang out with much anymore. I have one friend who has very little time and an entire armada of Imperial ships. Barely has any Rebel ships but that's k.

I got a buddy that is as into this as me but he's in a different state. I teach anyone I know this game. It's fun.

Starting a weekly/biweekly/monthly game night at your local games store can be a great way to meet some other players. Or just going to your flgs, buying a mini and then hanging out with your collection in view until someone looks interested enough to play might work.

I agree with the alcohol idea although it's hardly necessary here in the south.

And unfortunately, there are no gaming stores around here. There's a couple hobby stores but not very close and they don't carry X-Wing or much table top gaming items. Mostly R/C cars and models.

How close are you to Charleston?

Look for a gaming club in your area. You will often find an opponent there.

Logic,

I lived in North Charleston for six years and was able to find folks around Charleston AFB who liked tabletop wargaming. Not to mention the College of Charleston. It's been a while, but I find it hard to believe with such a diverse group of folks between those two locations there aren't at least a few who may be interested. I used to frequent a hobby shop near North Charleston called "The Green Dragon." If it still exists, give it a shot. Maybe there's a meeting board you can post a LFG (Looking For Group) message on. I'm not sure which part of the SC coast you live near, but I hope this gives you some more options!

Keep searching! They're out there!

Green Dragon is still there but they don't carry X-Wing. The base is pretty devoid nowadays. Our military is chaos now. I see a few NAVY kids here and there but not too many and nobody had anything posted on the boards the few times I checked around up there (there's a MTB trail I ride up there. Wannamaker. I'm also former MIL so I checked out the base when I moved down here. Mostly the [fail] NAVEX.) There's a hobby store in Mt. Pleasant but it's all R/C and models. Little bit of Warhammer but it was covered in dust. West Ashley has a shop but the only "table top" stuff they had was.... Pokemon and MTG. I even checked out the 2 D&D groups for kicks.

X-Wing just has zero popularity down here. I had to buy all my stuff off Amazon.

Something ain't right about a place that has no skate parks, no elevated terrain, is on the coast but has no surf and no liquor is sold past 7pm or on Sundays.

Sounds like the town from Foot Loose...

hey Logic i am kind of in the same boat, but am NOT selling my collection... i live in Sumter SC, near Shaw AFB, i am retired from the Airforce... i found a few gaming clubs listed on "meet-up" just google it for your area.. unfortunately for me ALL of the "meet-ups" were in Columbia that's about 50 miles away.. i mean its doable but i also had conflicts with some of the times.. the local game store closed/merged with the local comic book store, and i haven't checked with them to see if they still play any board games.. seems like the last time i checked it was all "magic" or hero something"?? but the owner of the old game store did offer to play anytime.. for me i think if i started playing it would generate interest and others would want to play.. However at that time they only played on Wednesday nights and once again i had a time conflict.. My time conflicts should clear up shortly..lol once the daughter goes off to college.. also i haven't really even tried/trolled the AFB for players.. i know the Airforce used to be filled with "geeks" when i was in... i also use the term GEEK as a term of endearment as i consider myself one.. Also i am sure down the road when the starwars movies are released that will also generate some interest. If you got access to base try posting something on the BX bulletin board...I also think this game is STILL expanding as for as popularity so it might just be a matter of time before players catch up... I also think the miniatures are really cool.. if they were crappy looking and or not done very well i would have been out a long time ago...

I hit up the Class 6 store on base most of the time. Cheaper and better hours! Don't miss those "dry" counties!

My advice on selling stuff on Ebay. Add up what you paid, then mark it down by 50% for being used. Start at that price with no reserve and let it ride. The price is what the traffic will bare. If your collection is truly worth $350...then it will get bid up to that. If not, then you know about where it was valued at. Just last month I bought a large collection of X-Wing off Ebay. I paid what the going rate is and have continued to watch several other auctions to agree, you are a bit high on starting price. If your extra stuff has value, it will get bid up. I've seen it with a few X-Wing auctions where the extra stuff helped drive the price up. Otherwise, consider breaking up your collection into smaller lots. There are fewer buyers looking to purchase an entire collection, than those looking to add a few ships to complete their collection or spare parts for customizing.

yeah and by breaking up the collection you can make a killing on shipping!!! i know it seems that way when i see items that have a low low low price then you see the shipping charge and its outrageous!! lol

The price is what the traffic will bare.

LMAO... I refuse to bare anything... even for X-Wing. However, I might bear paying half price for a set of miniatures in good condition. ;)
