    How does randomly determining who goes first fix anything? All you do is prevent half of the fleets that want to go first, from going first. We both agree second player should go last, since that prevents last/first. As it is right now, the players that bid hard get to determine who goes first or second.     Maybe you took what he said this way but I think it was in reference to players whose list relies solely on that single tactic to win. Maybe it is specific to my area but I do keep reading a lot of complaints about it from other areas. Maybe you don't agree but I think it's a good idea to at least listen to the players who have established themselves as high skill

    That's a real compelling argument you have there. Especially since the turn structure in every other part of D&D minis, which I haven't played, but looked at the actual rules for, is different.

    i felt pretty dirty saturday when having 3 gozantis and fighters won me the game because my opponent couldn't catch me or didn't get an accuracy. I think if they jump the points to 450/500 it could help but also may make it worse. Also I have yet to find a very reliable way to kill them that wasn't just a huge point sink or poor trading.

Why does a coin flip invalidate the "strategy" (right or wrong, mind you) that my fleet needs X points less than yours to beat you, so I want to have the ability to choose when I go?     potentially. 2 Lambdas lets you increase the threat of the alpha. I use a big pusher but after that 2 at a time seems fine. we will see thursday i guess. I really don't like the quasar and for the points you can almost get 3 more activations.

    The only people who would not want this are people so insecure in their ability to win an honest fight that they want a system that has such mechanical holes that they can leverage it to make their games easier. People who build fleets like this don't want an actual ship to ship slug fest, they want to win by using this unfortunate gimmick to bend this otherwise very strategic game to their advantage

    No you are correct not many games out there that still rewards the second player, but to bring in a pass mechanic and change the first player bid would necessitate rebuilding the rules from the ground up.

    I agree first is powerful, and last/first even more so. Your idea to remove bidding and select a person at random to have initiative doesn't fix the problem. Rather, it makes it more difficult to make a composed fleet and play to your strengths. Demo Avenger wants first. Defiance Ackbar wants second. Understanding fleet builds is important in building your own list so you can construct a fleet in order to beat those. How

    The point of the coin flip, and the activation pass idea is to make it so first player cannot be built for. I think it is better for the game if everyone builds to be able to take 1st or 2nd and still be confidant in their fleets ability to win. the validity of my ideas should not hing on my ability as a player. My point should stand or fall on its own merit
