Now I'm confused. He is good. He's won every tournament that he and I have both played in except for one. He won the SC at Giga Bites back in June and I think that was the biggest SC so far so definitely qualifies as a competitive setting. In fact he's the only person I've played more than once and have never beaten. I have been able to limit him to -
Flotillancitos and Flotillancitas happen -
I agree the first/last thing can be abused. But to say that all players who bid to go first are unskilled, insecure in their ability, and need to game the system to win is BS. I know nothing about space cowboy, nor do I follow peoples win streaks. Just because he's the best in your area means nothing to me and doesn't reflect upon the game systems. -
Then I am confused. Git Gud is entirely appropriate here. If he can beat you, then he is only practice away from doing it in a competitive setting! -
Imo they are the best in the game for it. -
i felt pretty dirty saturday when having 3 gozantis and fighters won me the game because my opponent couldn't catch me or didn't get an accuracy. I think if they jump the points to 450/500 it could help but also may make it worse. Also I have yet to find a very reliable way to kill them that wasn't just a huge point sink or poor trading. -
Aye, spot on Idie, mate. I initially only spotted 2, but there is an aft set, so it looks like the Hammerhead's whole compliment is 3 twin-laser cannons (I'd sincerely doubt those are turbolasers given that they aren't any larger than an X-wing's cannons and no significant mounting. They may even be proportionally smaller. I mean, that's not much for firepower, and only 2 turrets look to be -
I know he can and has. -
@ Brobafett: You aren't wrong, and that is not a bad set up either. I was just working out ways to keep activations up, but still have something to deal with those threats. @ MandalorianMoose: That is true, OE is powerful, but on a Mk2 it's not so much of a loss. Even threatening one, might cause the opponent to rethink his deployment and give the heavy hitters time to do their jobs. -
Might make them too good at blocking, which isn't something I'd like to see. -
what I was thinking... people wont take them just to be activation padders if they can be taken apart by one or two sqns -
@Space_Cowboy17 I challenge you to beat @Megatronrex with a 3 ship build. I bet you can do it. -
with sloane they can already be taken apart by few squadrons. an tie interceptor with flight controllers can one shot them by using AS. I kinda like it still but it is probably way too power. -
The deadly pickles I've seen usually have to pick between guaranteeing activation advantage and having a squadron screen worth of the term. In those cases, Sloane with a FC Quasar tends to tear through the screen, and strip the tokens off the death pickle it's relying on to survive. I recommend Defenders over Super-Friends but YMMV. Just be sure to have an ISD waiting in the wings to clean up. -
This. Raddus means you can have the result of activation advantage, your best ship placed with full knowledge of his, without bothering with having seven or eight ships. I also share complete confidence in FFG to handle the issue (insofar as they may or may not see it as an issue). -
No problem man. I have a tendency to get too defensive. I've never had a problem with your bluntness before and you had every right to come back at me for saying you said something that you didn't actually say. -
I like to deploy them to where they will end up trailing the main conflict. Since they're slicing takes place after movement, they can trail bigger ships and jack them up for the next turn -
A lot of us (gasp) don't play X-wing, or play only casually. In this case though, I do actually see the differences in where the problem is. In X-wing, the current meta has been created by mechanical interactions that were simply too effective for their cost. Jumpmasters made a cheap ship capable of equipping nearly every undercosted ability in the game, so they dominated the meta. In Armada, the issue is activation -
Still a couple of months before the Release Windows open. Plenty of time for information. I mean, I wish they were out now. My Birthday's Saturday. -
The lifeboats have been nerfed, what more do you want? looks at jumpmaster threads on X-wing forums Nevermind, I don't want to hear anymore of it. Are you sure you don't want to go back to X-wing, you will fit right in with the Nerf-Herding crowd. -
Its absolutely amazing the work that goes in to Vassal - especially everything you do, but alas, No Vassal for me. My old computer didn't allow it... I havn't installed it on the new system yet, but there's no reason why it shouldn't work. Just with a Toddler, there's no way I can set aside the time required to play on any given day (which is why I limit my participation -
Most likely two of each, based on my current purchasing trend/experience.

In my experience @Space_Cowboy17 is usually willing to let his opponents pick first or second regardless of bid. I'd look at his tournament record before questioning @Space_Cowboy17's skills or ability to outplay your opponent the guy's d*** good. I've been playing him pretty regularly for a year and still haven't beaten him. Not that I'm that good of a player but **** even a blind squirrel gets a
