with Singularity, I tried to take a different approach to many aspects. All species were rebuilt from the ground up in abilities and XP calculation, and so were all weapons. Biotics are the strongest holdover from then, Tech was mostly redesigned. My own campaign is partially featured in this. All the story hooks in the GM section are based to some degree on plot I have run with my players: Citadel - Tayseri Drift (or Flotilla and the Furious - Tayseri Drift, as I called it back then) was one of the first things they did upon getting from Omega to the Citadel. A Dangerous Game is based on what happened to them after they crashlanded on Bekenstein, they sorta stumbled into that game. Fragmented Memory was a followup to another Prothen thing they did, and I also combined it with a cool flashback session, where they got to play Protheans -
were 1/3rd scale flotillas would be about the size of squadrons now, squadrons would need to be small enough to where it would seem they would be indistinguishable from one another. Again I would probably have preferred a reduced scale for Armada (doubly so for Legion) but I can't think of how squadrons would have been done in that case, and I don't think I'd personally want to see them eliminated so curious as to what the alternative would be. If Legion had been even close to X-wing scale I would have probably just asked FFG where they would like me to deposit my checks

only real reference for space battles is battle for endor which is an all or nothing gambit from both sides. If you delve into the EU expecially some of Zahns books you find that most system security forces contained an ISD and some support craft. I just finished Forces of One and Thrawn's unknown region fleet was an ISD and some flotillas. with fighters obviously. Sure Vader's Death Squadron has a SSD and 4 ISDs but Vader doesn't fight fair and is the anomaly. Would 500pts be better absolutely. also this is just an issue with miniature wargaming in general. Outside guildball and other sports games most games aren't a true recreation of the story. 40k which can have 50-60 models a side is generally considered a skirish game for its fluff. Its not a true skirmish game but when you field 50-60 models -
Till V money shows up. nebs and cr90s should have been on the flotilla stands and smaller. I understand why they weren't and aren't but still -
That or Vader, I figure. Vader's a pretty legit choice with the Cymoon specced for long-ranged death. Spinal/Quad Turbolaser Cannon Cymoon is not cheap but with Vader it can rain unholy **** from downtown and regularly trigger the QTCs, which makes it great for swatting down flotillas at long range or putting serious hurt into even lighter ships when it locks down both evades -
account for the different meta decks being played. Pirate Warrior was popular but in the following set, a crab was released that kills pirates. That crab became an anti-meta tool to give you a leg up in the meta race. I play a ton of Armada. When I make a fleet, I have to have a counter to the meta so I can win, or at the least have a plan. Flotillas are popular, so having a way to kill them reliably is required for me to do well against the meta. I think Legion will have meta because it only has 2 factions. MTG has a meta because it has 5 colors, 6 is you count colorless. Armada and X-Wing have a meta because there are 2 and 3 factions, respectively. By limiting what players are capable of working with AND allowing a pool of generic cards/upgrades -
dozen trooper models, 3 vehicles, and 2 leaders in the core set. Unpainted that's $90, How much would hand painting those 30 models raise the price? How much time would it add in production? And that's only half the normal game size. You compare it to X-wing and Armada that put less models on the table then a single squad in this game. You ignore that fighter packs and flotillas in Armada are unpainted and you also ignore that IA is also unpainted. Anytime the model count rises FFG opts not to paint. Why do you think that is? Could it have to with the cost of painting all those models -
just want to say one word to you. One word. Are you listening? Flotillas -
Resurgent and Starhawk first perhaps. The Resistance Bomber would be a flotilla most likely. Mind, a two Epic release kicked off the range for X-Wing. Both the Transport and Corvette were announced at the same time if I remember correctly -
also means you can lifeboat if really want? Drop a flotilla out and fly away -
competition most wanted is always the best choice with a flotilla in your fleet. Hyperspace assault with an mc30 is also a fun but less competitive option -
Back when we could put Commanders on flotillas I used Quantum Storm a bunch... now I think it might have -
stop thinking of great little stunts you could pull. Raddus is at medium range, drops the profundity in at close range to the target, then you drop a light into a rear arc. Or the extended drop line to suddenly threaten a quasar in the back ranks. Or chain drop a hammerhead in behind the lines to take out a flotilla with the help of rapid launch bayed bombers -
double card in the upper row of Chimaera upgrades, does that not look like "Seventh Fleet Star Destroyer"? Star Destroyer task force? I wonder what they'll do! Edited August 25, 2017 by Admiral Theia OOPS!! Said flotilla instead of task force -
Hence why we have flotillas -
Raddus seems like a sneaky way to win. Take a cheap CR90 B (or better yet flotilla) and set aside a big ship (MC75, Liberty, MC80). Run that little guy right at the enemy and then drop your big ship out in perfect attack position. I like -
gotta kill flotillas -
this game, depends of the fleet and your strategy. I think is very powerful with or without some objective. And profundity title can save some points or you can continue with your strategy. I imagine now, Adar Tallon change to flotilla or a cr90 to continue helping bombers, you save 10 points and can do a lot/bit more -
reminder, Profundity's stocked ship must have a command value of 1. So sorry, no MC30's.....you get flotillas, CR90's, and Hammerheads as options. Edited August 25, 2017 by Maturin -
Yavaris and B wings then Raddus Profundity and Profundity a Flotilla with BCC on someone's face -
Bees go innside the bcc flotilla...innside the profundity. Just because -
remember when flotillas were first revealed there was a lot of attempted witchery regarding the badly cropped and positioned home page cover photo also. We were somewhat vindicated for that one by the reveal of Wave 4 shortly thereafter. So, might be we'll get more reveals. Something is coming after all. Something -
Great for blowing up flotillas though -
VSD1 is 73 points, which is one upgrade away from Demolisher. But the VSD is slow as hell, and everyone knows that and exploits it. The Imperials, at four ships (vs the Rebel five, who in the same points neighborhood have the Neb B escort with its titles, the MC30, and the AF2), simply don't have other options. This is not to deny the power of Demolisher, but also to say that as flotillas (uniquely equipped to block Demolisher) and more ships arrive in the next two waves or so, this problem may solve itself. Patience is probably the correct response here. In a technical sense, if all the Imperial ships were equally liked and played, you'd expect to see it in 25% of lists, so it's not totally crazy with the showing here. agreement with you on all of this. I am actually thinking it might be a "learning curve" thing with the imperial ships. The ISD and Demolisher put out the pain no matter what. The VSD and the Raider require more technique. I would argue that both are excellent in certain situations but can royally suck in others. I also think patience is needed. The VSD will see a resurgence with Flotillas and bomber command. Two activations to spit out 4-7 rerollable black bomber dice will be no joke. All at a price of about 100 points
