points) as I assume you won't be taking a side shot or flak at the same time. However that is quite a draw back and if you can't make good use of those 3 points then there is no point. Equally with Caitken you don't need leading shots. So you really have 2 choices Caitken vs Gunnery Teams and then Spinal/Slaved for an extra dice vs Mon Karren/XI7/(H9) (if flotilla hunting but that is not so important now for tabling). These are meta decisions based on if you think you will get multiple shots from Gunnery Team or not. I'd probably fall down on the side of Gunnery Teams as it gives you 2 shots even if red dice are bad. My preference would probably be Gunnery Teams, Leading Shots and then XI7 or Mon Karren depending on how much I feel I could reduce

Makes me wonder if Admiral Nelson's Great wall of text is still standing? That was one of the 7 saltyest wonders of the forum, and the GOAT of all forum rants! New players should be able to see what happened when Flotillas were first released. Dark times... Hilarious, but still dark

second point is that previously the balance was Either/Or, and the current situation is "Yes And." Flotilla have thrown out the old dichotomy between high activating low power and low activating high power. Now every fleet is high activating with 2-3 power units which might include a big squadron component or a powerful combat ship, or both. But they also have 5+ activations

game at medium range. A lot of people also include an Offensive Retrofit slot, so with Dcaps and a squad dial, you could throw some Imp squads across the board, pop Dcaps, and decimate enemy squads. Combine this with the fact that a lot of people are making it on par with or less expensive than an HH and harder to kill, and it quickly becomes OP. I'm fine with a dedicated squadron flotilla or the like, but it has to be balanced within the game. At this point, I honestly believe that means no 3 AS dice ships. Awesome write up! Thanks for posting. I think Arquitens is a good chance at disrupting the flotilla/bomber ascendancy. If you give it H9 turbos or use captain jonus, you have a cheap (50 point?) ship that can kill flotillas at long range without overcommitting

keep them on their original bases but add models. For example, with CR-90s and Imperial Raiders, I use a fighter squadron tree and put 3 models on. For something like a Nebulon, I put two ships on one of the flotilla stands. I know those are still small stands though. Most of the medium ships I leave as one per stand. The added benefit is getting a real armada on the table. The squadrons of small ships zipping around the larger single ships looks very impressive

With flotillas it's now much more difficult to ensure you have both activation advantage and low bid. To get both you need 6+ activations. Five doesn't cut it anymore

sorry folks but I won't be doing anything like this. I don't approve of picking on people or mocking their posts. I love to have a laugh and do silly voices - but to do that for things like this would be wrong. I don't know how many of you remember but I too, was very critical of the flotillas and I thought Armada was going to die for awhile also. It wasn't until Wave 4's revelation that I apologized and matured a bit on topics like these. I don't like to bully people. Even if they might appear to "Deserve it". Most bullys think their victims deserve it - it's why they do it. So it's easy when someone seems to be an easy target. Try to be better than that

fantastic game. Having a less than phenomenal announcement does not diminish the quality of the game. It does not make it less enjoyable. And there's already so much variety that I know I won't get through every combination of ship and upgrade by the time the new release comes out. I just got done listening to the IFF podcast and I must say that I'm really stoked for these flotillas and their upgrades. They may be small but they will be popular, rest assured

There is certainly a meta. Its squadrons and flotillas. Just because there is a decent amount of variance around that in builds (better than the state of many games mind you) doesn't mean that there isn't that common trend. When it's to the point that rebel lists are averaging just a bit over 2 per, and imps at about 1.5 in EVERY build, it's definetly a thing (that and how many builds were pushing near 134 pts in squadrons

Earned 7th place at UK nationals, and 3rd at a smaller tourney. Not especially after ideas or criticism, just wanted to share with you, maybe it can inspire someone to make a better version. Strengths: - unparalelled long range firepower, in terms of dice numbers, Ackbars Defiance can put out more, but it won't have the consistant firepower - can destroy ships in a single salvo with a snap of a finger at long range( flotillas, small ships) - killing large ships in one turn - mobility - no reliance on Avenger, its just cherry on a pie(but its preferred to activate Devastator first) -strong flak Weaknesses: -long learning curve to use it to maximum potential -no squadrons -first-last brawler lists will usually win against this list Points: 399/400 Commander: Darth Vader Assault Objective: Most Wanted Defense Objective: Contested Outpost Navigation Objective: Solar Corona Imperial Star Destroyer Cymoon 1 Refit (112 points

Venator has equal shields to the ISD, but 2 less hull. And a 5 in Squadron! I am not disappointed.☺️ So maybe the other version of the Pelta will have the Fleet Command slot as others have pointed out, but it looks like that’s another ship that has a Fleet Support slot for the Republic. I’m starting to think the people who have been saying, the Republic might not get a flotilla, might be right. Also, the Pelta is cheaper than the Rebel version that starts at 56. Boy I hope the Venator is speed

like to see some discussion on how to use VSDs in ways other than second-player objective protection ships, or something other than D-Cap artillerymen "From the Back", and likely deployed close to their targets. Tell me how I can use multiple VSDs in an assault role against a camping speed 0 second player Rieekan aces ball pumped with Yavaris Norra B-Wings, or an Ackbar conga line with some fighters and flotillas to pad out deployment. Let me know how to face an Avenger ISD-I with Sloane supporting Demolisher and a pack of aces to pad out deployment, while you're using more than one VSD. My sense tells me these are among the match-ups are the worst possible combinations VSDs are going to be asked to face, but you must, if you're preparing to face anything other than a staged game. anti-phageA group of ships, showing various battle damage drift out of the warp. From afar they appear to be plague ships, leaving a vile jotsam of diseased detritus. Upon closer examination the phlegmed outsides of the ship show corpulesence now dead, underneath of which the armour gleams with a holy fervour. A static corruption of imperial hymns precludes the start of battle. The flasghip of this motley flotilla of imperial ships is the Pox of Nurgle, or simply called the Pox. The records of its demise are shrouded in heretical mumblings and eccelsiarchical babble. Nurgle's daemons are silent of what happened, but they view this ship and its siblings as terrible anathemas to the gifts of Great Father Nurgle. The ships are immune to the gifts of nurgle, shots fired at them do mechanical damage, but their gifts of rot or corrosion go unremarked on. The ships when firing upon

past months I worked on a multitude of projects, first one was from a special request "the H1 emergency ships flotilla", I also take the time to make a more realistic asteroids set. I used this opportunity to make more asteroids sculpt that I will use later for the space slugs and a space station. I made good progress on the dust fields and VSD debris and I should be ready to test print the unarmed station next week

exploration vessel into the Expanse to search for lost technology, alien species and stellar phenomena. 3) (Taking a page out of the main rulebook) A group of poor Rogue Traders with space-tapped transports and frigates agree to pool their resources for one last shot to thrive in the expanse. 4) (Similar but alternate) An immensely powerful Rogue Trader dynasty has decided to add the Expanse to it's operations, sending a flotilla of lesser family members. Or, you know, what ever, I just thought I'd toss out ideas. Also, in my experience, one can get away with just having an OOC and an IC thread if necessary. I'd have who ever GMs drop the first post for the OOC thread though, so they can edit and store our characters/ship/etc in that post. Edited December 1, 2014 by Quicksilver

Though, I can undertstand you'd rather be on a nimble frigate. I'll use Mathammer fixes.- The Warrant : I like older warrants. What I'd like to see, for once, is a Bearer Warrant, aka "the one bearing this Warrant is a Rogue Trader, the ruightfull owner of XXXXX, starship of YYY class". But then, if you want to play upstarts with a small starship and a lot of funds, or a small flotilla of small ships with an agreement between impoverished traders, it's good as well

Nope, I was surprised to see these. I see what you're getting at. I think the issue there is you'd need just a couple of the pages you're describing for one or two tricked out ships, then you'd need these for like a flotilla or CR90 with just a single upgrade. It is probably just too many products in the company's opinion. These might be better with just two ship cards and more upgrade card slots. Still though more options for organizing stuff is good

similar list but put demo on the gsd 1, unless your planning for jonus. Use your second gsd as an aggro sink while demo sneaks in on a late activation. Use your flotillas to set a heavy squad screen around where you think demo will land

Rather than term every fleet that has at least two flotillas a "MSsomething", why don't we call a fleet that has fewer than four activations a "low activation" fleet? Four is the new two....LA double ISD gets the point across I think....as does LA ISD/Demo.It makes sense to label the outliers, not the norm

very very curious to see what the flotillas do to this paradigm. Imagine this: two GR-75 combat retrofits and four H-6s. That's probably close to the same points as the tooled up Demolisher (assuming about 20 per transport). Maybe throw in a bomber command center on one of those GR-75. Throw those directly in Demolisher's path. Demolisher is actually going to have a hard time killing them with the scatter tokens. Meanwhile, the H-6s are fast enough to remain a multi-turn threat to Demolisher. It's not perfect, but it's better than the current solution of doing a Rieekan bear hug to take Demolisher down with one of your own ships
