They're active (although not as active as here). They've been around for a very long time and I doubt they're going anywhere anytime soon. And best of all, they're free!

Seconded. I used board game geek frequently and the forums are easy to use. Not to mention a bit less wild then reddit 😉
I will happily split time between Board game geek & @Crabbok 's discord page.
but I'm going to miss these forums a lot.
