Some questions…

By Myvahri, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hey guys me and my friends are currently playing our third campaign (well second really we had to cancel the other one unfortunately) and we stumbled upon am odd situatuion today where we had a little argument…

1. The rulebook states that the overlord may move a big monster by chosing one space the monster stands on and move with that space. After the move action iscompleted the overlord may re position the monster so that it stands on the field but could be aligned totally different. So the qustion is with that rule and the new overlord card where the overlors gets to move a everytime a hero suffers fatigue to move, technically the overlord could get a shadowdragon 3 spaces ahead by moving its head one space and re alining it so that the head looks in the opposite direction. Is it really ment to be this way? Seems way to op considering our berserk only has 3 movement…

… gee i hope you guys understand the mess im writing there >.>

2. I have a wepon thyt has 2 yellow and one blue die. Our healer gives people an extra yellow after he healed that person. Can i then throw a third yellow die making it so that i would have to reroll one and memorize the other or will the die simply be discarded?

3.The conversion kit seems to throw everything off the balance. Our current overlord focuses alot on winning so we see the same monsters which are fairly strong in every game: Dragons, demons golems… and i really cant blame him nothing prevents him from doing this and its quite understandable that he wants to win. :) So how did you guys balance this? We thought of making it random selection for the overlord and while i like the idea of limiting the overlords strength regarsing open groups this would put only more chance to a game akready filled with it. :)

4.How do you store your minis? I have descent v1 base + tomb of ice and also descent v2 + lair of wyrm. Theyare currently in 5 seperate plastic bags lying around in a shoe box but thats really not how it should be. :S so i was wondering how you guys store them :) any nifty tricks?

So thanks in advnce for your answers and have a nice day :)

Best regards.

Yes I understand what you're saying, and yes, it's legal. Do note that the dragon figures doesn't need to "turn around" so that its head is still on the side with the "moving square." The orientation of the figure is irrelevant as long as it still occupies the one space it was using to move with.

The way large monsters move may seem weird and abusive, but Descent has a long history of trouble with how large monsters move. This is a subject that has always generated lots of FAQ questions, and it seems to remain true in 2E as well.

I'm pretty sure it says that you are not limited to the number of dice that come in the game in the Combat section somewhere. So yes, you'd have to remember (or write down) the result of one die and re-roll it. Unless you want to buy extra dice from FFG. =P

We don't have any house rules concerning the CK monsters. We manage just fine, though I do admit some of these monsters are really powerful.

Currently, I'm using a spare expansion box for the 1E minis and the baggies they came in for 2E minis. There's still room in the 2E core box for everything 2E… for now… =P

I have some plastic organizers that i use to store all my health, fatige etc tokens and minis. Not the one below, but something similar.

Got 2 taller one with 6 spaces for the mini minis and a flatter one with about 25-30 spaces for tokens (both of which are moddable and you can pull out walls divinding the spaces to make them bigger to fit your needs)

Hope this helps and they don't cost a lot either. Got them for about 3$ each at a hardware store.
