Glad I kept this old game!

By Pjenglish, in X-Men: Mutant Insurrection

Gotta say, I'm pretty excited for this game, and I'm extra excited I kept this copy of X-Men Under Siege I picked up at a garage sale years ago, if for no other reason than the miniatures! There's no Shadow Cat though, which makes me sad.

*These photos aren't mine, because I couldn't figure out how to get my actual photos into this post, but it's all the same stuff. XD*

That’s awesome! Definitely needed

I loved those games as a kid! I recently dug them out and started making custom evil mutant cards for 'em to add some complexity/depth.

The first game of the series, X-Men Alert, had Shadowcat, by the way!

I had both those games. Good times.

I have X-Men Alert still. However, I never realized there was another in the series. Bummer.

We played a lot of the X-Men ALERT! Adventure Board Game growing up (which is the first game in this series). It has Shadowcat but no Jean Grey, as others have noted. It also had Professor X and Colossus instead of Bishop and Maverick. I grabbed a copy for about $5 off of E-Bay a few years ago for nostalgia, and made custom Evil Mutant and X-Men cards to make it a little more in-depth while keeping the utter bonkers insanity of the original game that made it endearing.

I replaced all of the figures with LEGO X-Men customs, though, and I'm excited to be able to dust them off and resuse those LEGO Figs again for the new upcoming boardgame.

Didn't you do custom Lego figures for Outer Rim too? Remind me one of these days to ask you where you go to that, especially if it's in the area.

Why yes I did! Nothing against standees (which I rather like to be honest), but it's hard to argue with Lego :) I got pretty lucky with Outer Rim, in that there was a lot of serendipity in accruing that cast in Lego. The semi-recent mini-set of Bounty Hunters (which supplied IG88 and Bossk) was still easy to find on clearance, and I managed to snag a Boba Fett, an Indiana Jones (which I used as the basis for Dr. Aphra), and a generic space-alien (which was the base for Ketsu) at a garage sale. Then it was just a matter of grabbing a Lando and Han from eBay, alongside a few bits to assemble a passable Ketsu and Aphra. Part of me dreads an expansion, because then I'll have to find additional Lego solutions to keep up, heh.

In pure absurdity... I've even thought about Lego-fying the JAWS boardgame to replace the perfectly fine wooden meeples with Lego Quint/Brody/Hooper and little mini Lego boats for them to ride around the map on in Stage 1 of the game. Then I remind myself... no, this would probably cost more money than the game itself and would require more time hunting Lego bits than I've spent playing the game ... 🤣

OMG I LOVED THAT GAME AS A KID TOOOOO

Realized years later that we were playing this game wrong as kids. Instead of having all the X-Men on the team advancing the same leader along the battle track, we had each X-Man advancing separately. Which made "boss" fights incredibly hard affairs but led to such zany and tense plays. Having played this again recently, I think I prefer our old 'wrong' way, even if it made Shadowcat, Iceman, and Banshee super bonkers good.

Does anyone have any idea of how much it'd be to get HeroClix versions of the characters? I'm not even sure how many of the characters they have, but I found this on Amazon:

I spent around $50 to get a herolix of each X-Man in the game. The most expensive one was Phoenix, who was around $10. Most were under or around $1. I got them at CoolStuffInc and Troll and Toad.
