Dead of Winter Soundtrack

By tworekthomas, in Dead of Winter

Playing Dead of Winter can be a tense and immersive experience, and the right soundtrack to accompany a gaming session can make all the difference. I have a playlist of over 300 tracks that we play on random every game. Obvious soundtrack choices from zombie movies:

Night of the Living Dead

Dawn of the Dead (Library Music and the Goblin score)

Day of the Dead

Lucio Fulci's Zombie

Return of the Living Dead

Shaun of the Dead

Planet Terror

Walking Dead

The Last of Us

The Road (not zombies, but ****, is it desolate)

Any that I am missing?

One of the artists with the most songs on my mix is Nine Inch Nails:

Pinion, Help Me I am in ****, The Becoming, Somewhat Damaged, The Day the World Went Away, We're in this Together, Hyperpower!, The Beginning of the End, Survivalism, The Good Soldier, My Violent Heart, 1 Ghosts I, 10 Ghosts II, 23 Ghosts III, 32 Ghosts IV, 33 Ghosts IV, The Eater of Dreams, While I'm Still Here, Black Noise, She's Gone Away, This Isn't the Place, Not Anymore, and The Background World.

Just recently NIN released 2 new instrumental albums for free (Ghosts V:Together and Ghosts VI:Locusts) and I think both will make excellent contributions to the mix. Lots of mood and atmosphere to keep the game going.

Zombie Girl is a good artist for this too

Since it's around Halloween I put together a bunch of songs that I thought would go well with Dead of Winter (and other horror board games). It's mostly 80's horror music, winter themed music, psychedelic Nox Vidmate VLC rock, and some other stuff that I thought would fit well with the mood of the game. Right now it runs about 4 hours 15 minutes but I might add more.
